1 KILLED WHEN CRAB BOAT CAPSIZES JKB 11/24/10

  • A SACRAMENTO DIED AFTER THE CRAB BOAT HE WAS FISHING FROM CAPSIZED OFF THE SONOMA COUNTY COAST YESTERDAY.

4 OTHER FISHERMEN WERE RESCUED. THE 21 FOOT PRIVATE BOAT RAN INTO ROUGH SEAS SOUTH OF GOAT ROCK NEAR JENNER AND OVERTURNED AT AROUND 9 AM. 71 YEAR OLD GLENN IWAMATO WAS UNRESPONSIVE BY THE TIME RESCUERS ARRIVED MOMENTS LATER AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AFTER BEING BROUGHT TO SHORE. THE OTHER MEN RESCUED WERE TAKEN TO LOCAL HOSPITALS FOR TREATMENT OF HYPOTHERMIA. ACCORDING TO OFFICIALS, IT IS UNCLEAR IF THE BOATS OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING LIFE JACKETS.

FINAL ELECTION RESULTS RELEASED JKB 11/24/10

  • THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE FINAL RESULTS FOR THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION THAT HAD BEEN TALLIED INITIALLY.

THE MENDOCINO COUNTY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS OFFICE RELEASED THE FINAL RESULTS YESTERDAY WHICH SHOWED THAT 66.85% OF THE COUNTYS REGISTERED VOTERS CAST BALLOTS IN THE NOVEMBER 2ND ELECTION. DAVID EYSTER GARNERED MORE VOTES THAN INCUMBENT MEREDITH LINTOTT TO BECOME THE COUNTYS NEW DISTRICT ATTORNEY, DAN HAMBURG CAPTURED THE 5TH DISTRICT SUPERVISORS SEAT OVER WENDY ROBERTS, AND INCUMBENT JOHN PINCHES RETAINED HIS 3RD DISTRICT SUPERVISOR SEAT OVER CHALLENGER HOLLY MADRIGAL. THE FINAL RESULTS ALSO SHOWED OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FOR CALIFORNIAS GOVERNOR ELECT JERRY BROWN, WITH MORE THAN 63% OF VOTE IN HIS FAVOR. COUNTY VOTERS ALSO FOLLOWED THE STATE TREND IN DEFEATING THE MARIJUANA INITIATIVE PROP 19 WITH MORE THAN 53% OF THOSE CASTING BALLOTS VOTING NO.

FIRE DESTROYS MOBILE HOME JKB 11/24/10

  • A MAN WAS INJURED WHEN HIS SINGLE WIDE MOBILE HOME WAS DESTROYED BY A FIRE ON OLD HIGHWAY 53 TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

THE BLAZE WAS REPORTED AT 12:15 PM. THE STRUCTURE WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES BY THE TIME FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AND WAS DETERMINED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MALE OCCUPANT OF THE RESIDENCE WAS EXTRICATED FROM THE BURNING HOME AND LATER AIRLIFTED TO A HOSPITAL OUT OF THE COUNTY AS A PRECAUTION DUE TO SMOKE INHALATION THAT POSSIBLY COMPLICATED THE MANS EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION, BUT IS NOT CONSIDERED SUSPICIOUS.

DRUM TEACHER SENTENCED FOR MOLESTATION JKB 11/24/10

  • A PETALUMA DRUM TEACHER WAS SENTENCED TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON YESTERDAY, AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY BY A JURY LAST MONTH OF THE SEXUAL MOLESTATION OF ONE OF HIS STUDENTS.

69 YEAR OLD DOMINICK GODINO HAS MAINTAINED HIS INNOCENCE IN THE CASE. HE FACED A SENTENCED OF UP TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON. HIS VICTIM, WHO IS NOW 12 YEARS OLD, TESTIFIED THAT GODINO TOUCHED HER BREASTS AND GENITALS ON FEBRUARY 28TH AFTER BECOMING AFFECTIONATE OVER THE COURSE OF 8 DRUM LESSONS. GONDINO CLAIMED THE CONTACT OCCURRED WHEN HE LOST HIS BALANCE AND FELL. SONOMA COUNTY SUPERIOR JUDGE GARY MEDVIGY SENTENCED GODINO TO THE MID TERM SENTENCE, NOTING THAT HE HAD NOT SHOWN REMORSE FOR HIS CRIMES.

SEARCH FOR MISSING KAYAKER 11/24/10

  • SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAMS ARE LOOKING FOR A MISSING MOUNTAIN VIEW MAN WHO DISAPPEARED WHILE KAYAKING OFF THE MENDOCINO COAST YESTERDAY.

56 YEAR OLD DONNIE FOSTER WAS LAST SEEN AT AROUND 4 PM IN THE AREA OF MENDOCINO BAY AFTER TAKING TO THE WATER NEAR BIG RIVER AN HOUR EARLIER IN HIS BLUE 7 FOOT WHITEWATER KAYAK. THE COAST GUARD BEGAN A SEARCH FOR FOSTER LAST NIGHT USING A HELICOPTER AND MOTORED LIFE BOAT. THE SEARCH IS CONTINUING TODAY. FOSTER WAS VISITING THE MENDOCINO COAST WITH HIS WIFE FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.

WOMAN DRIVES INTO LIQUOR STORE 3 TIMES JKB 11/24/10

  • A MCKINLEYVILLE WOMAN UNDERWENT A PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION AFTER DRIVING HER SUV THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS OF A SAFEWAY STORE 3 TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO SCARE A GROUP OF TEENAGERS FRIDAY NIGHT.

POLICE SAY 59 YEAR OLD PAMELA HINRICHS GOT INTO A VERBAL ARGUMENT WITH 3 TEENS STANDING OUTSIDE THE STORE WHO WERE MOCKING HER SHORTLY AFTER 8 PM. SHE DROVER HER 2003 FORD EXPLORER INTO THE SLIDING GLASS DOORS 3 TIMES SHATTERING THE GLASS AND NARROWLY MISSING A STORE EMPLOYEE. NONE OF THE TEENS WERE INJURED. HINRICHS WAS NOT ARRESTED IN THE INCIDENT, BUT SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE SEMPER VIRENS PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL IN EUREKA FOR EVALUATION. INVESTIGATORS HAVE RULED OUT ILLEGAL DRUGS OR ALCOHOL AS A FACTOR IN THE INCIDENT, BUT SAY HINRICHS BEHAVIOR MAY HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED BY PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION SHE IS CURRENTLY TAKING.
