  • TWO PEOPLE APPARENTLY DIED OFF THE MENDOCINO COAST OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND WHILE DIVING FOR ABALONE.

A 68 YEAR OLD LITTLE RIVER MAN DIVING WITH FRIENDS BECAME UNRESPONSIVE WHILE SWIMMING BACK TO SHORE AT AROUND 9:40 MONDAY MORNING. IT IS THOUGHT THE MAN MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED A HEART ATTACK OR OTHER MEDICAL EVENT IN THE WATER. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

MEANWHILE AUTHORITIES ARE CONTINUING TO SEARCH FOR A MISSING SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MAN WHO DISAPPEARED SATURDAY WHILE DIVING WITH A FRIEND 3 MILES SOUTH OF FORT BRAGG. THE OTHER DIVER WAS RESCUED. 37 YEAR OLD WILLIAM KIM OF LOS ANGELES REMAINS MISSING. THE DIVERS WERE UNABLE TO RETURN TO SHORE ON THEIR OWN WHEN THEY ENTERED THE OCEAN AT PINE BEACH AND GOT CAUGHT UP IN THE BREAKING SURF.

  • THE PILOT OF A SMALL PLANE WAS ABLE TO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL EMERGENCY LANDING IN A HAY FIELD IN SOUTHEAST SANTA ROSA ON SUNDAY.

THE PLANE, DESIGNED FOR AEROBATICS, LANDED SAFELY AT ABOUT 9;30 AM IN THE FIELD NEAR TAYLOR MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE PILOT, CRAIG LITTLE OF SANTA ROSA SAID HE EXPERIENCED ENGINE TROUBLE SHORTLY AFTER TAKING OFF FROM THE SONOMA COUNTY AIRPORT.

  • LAKE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY DON ANDERSON ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY THAT HIS IN INVESTIGATING TWO RECENT INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT.

THE SECOND INCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED IS AN ARMED CONFRONTATION BETWEEN CLEARLAKE POLICE OFFICERS AND UNDERCOVER LAKE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPUTIES DURING A DRUG BUST THAT TOOK PLACE AFTER SHERIFF FRANK RIVERO FAILED TO NOTIFY CLEARLAKE POLICE CHIEF CRAIG CLAUSEN OF THE UNDERCOVER OPERATION.

  • TWO PEOPLE WERE LUCKY TO ESCAPE WITHOUT INJURIES WHEN THEIR CAR OVERTURNED DOWN A STEEP EMBANKMENT OFF HIGHWAY 175 AT THE HOPLAND GRADE YESTERDAY.

  • A MAN WALKING IN AN ALLEY WAY NEAR A CLOSED BUSINESS ON SOUTH STATE STREET AT 1:35 AM WEARING DARK CLOTHING AND GLOVES CAUGHT THE ATTENTION OF A UKIAH POLICE OFFICER ON FRIDAY MORNING.

A QUICK CHECK REVEALED THAT 36 YEAR OLD JAMES RAY OF UKIAH WAS WANTED ON TWO ARREST WARRANTS FOR PROBATION VIOLATIONS. A SEARCH OF HIS PERSON FOUND HIM TO BE IN POSSESSION OF TWO SMALL BAGS OF METHAMPHETAMINE AND A LOADED 9 MM PISTOL THAT WAS CONCEALED IN THE FRONT WAISTBAND OF HIS PANTS. RAY WAS ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGES.

VANDALISM INVESTIGATION JKB 5/31/11

  • LAKE COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE TYING TO IDENTIFY THE PERSON OR PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR SPRAY PAINTING NAZI SWASTIKAS WITH THE LETTERS C O P S AT EACH CORNER ON A ROAD IN HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE AND ON A BARN ON HIGHWAY 29 IN LOWER LAKE.

THE INCIDENTS WERE DISCOVERED MAY 26TH. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE LAKE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT.

48 YEAR OLD SANDRA YOUNG DIED WHEN HER CAR WAS STRUCK BY 64 YEAR OLD HELEN LESLIE, ALSO OF WILLITS. ACCORDING TO POLICE LESLIE LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE AND CROSSED THE CENTERLINE AT AROUND 11:20 AM. YOUNG, WHO WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT, DIED AT THE SCENE. LESLIE SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.

HIT & RUN ACCIDENT JKB 5/30/11

  • UKIAH POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE DRIVER OF SMALL PICK UP TRUCK WHO STRUCK A MAN AND HIS YOUNG SON AS THEY WERE CROSSING STATE STREET IN A CROSSWALK AT THE CORNER OF WEST CHURCH STREET SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

ONE VEHICLE STOPPED TO LET THE PAIR CROSS, BUT THE PICK UP DID NOT. THE FATHER SUFFERED A SEVERE BUT NON LIFE THREATENING LEG INJURY. HIS SON, REPORTED TO BE 4 YEARS OLD, SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. THE PICK UP SPED OFF. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INCIDENT IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE UKIAH POLICE DEPARTMENT.

FIERY ROLL OVER CRASH JKB 5/30/11

  • A LAYTONVILLE WOMAN SUFFERED MAJOR INJURIES WHEN SHE WAS EJECTED DURING A FIERY ROLL OVER CRASH ON HIGHWAY 101 JUST SOUTH OF THE MENDOCINO COUNTY LINE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

ACCORDING TO THE CHP, ROBERT WALBURN OF LAYTONVILLE WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND IN HIS PICK UP TRUCK WHEN HE ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO LEAVE THE ROADWAY AND TRAVEL UP AN UNIMPROVED SHOULDER AT AROUND 6 AM. THE TRUCK ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES AND CAUGHT FIRE. 20 YEAR OLD HEATHER WALBURN WAS EJECTED FROM THE PICK UP. SHE WAS AIRLIFTED TO SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE SHE WAS LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION AS OF LAST NIGHT. ROBERT WALBURN AND A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD WERE TREATED AND RELEASED AT THE SCENE.

  • AUTHORITIES HAVE POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED THE BODY FOUND IN THE WRECKAGE OF A PLANE SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE AS THAT OF WELL KNOWN LOCAL AREA WINEMAKER ROBERT BUDGE BROWN.

THE 78 YEAR OLD BROWN WAS THE OWNER OF CLEAVAGE CREEK CELLARS IN NAPA, AND TULIP HILL WINERY IN NICE. HIS PLANE DISAPPEARED FROM RADAR MAY 18TH.

MISSING DIVER JKB 5/30/11

  • AUTHORITIES ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR A MISSING ABALONE DIVER WHO DISAPPEARED OFF THE MENDOCINO COAST 3 MILES SOUTH OF FORT BRAGG.

ANOTHER DIVER, REPORTED TO BE HIS DIVING PARTNER WAS RESCUED SHORTLY AFTER THE U.S. COAST GUARD RECEIVED A CALL THAT TWO DIVERS WERE IN DISTRESS SOMETIME AFTER 3 PM SATURDAY. THE 2ND DIVER HAD STILL NOT BEEN LOCATED BY SUNDAY EVENING. NO OTHER DETAILS, INCLUDING THE NAMES OF THE DIVERS, HAS BEEN RELEASED.

  • THE GEYSERS WERE RATTLED BY A 3.7 MAGNITUDE QUAKE ON SATURDAY, THE 14TH QUAKE 3.0 OR LARGER TO STRIKE THE AREA SINCE THE FIRST OF THE YEAR.

THE QUAKE OCCURRED AT 3:55 PM AND WAS CENTERED 2 MILES EAST OF THE STEAM FIELDS, AND 4 MILES SOUTH WEST OF COBB.

  • 3 MEN FROM SAN JOSE WERE ARRESTED FOR A MARIJUANA GROWING OPERATION ON BUS MCGALL ROAD SOUTH OF UKIAH LAST WEEK.

  • AUTHORITIES SAY INFORMATION FROM THE BLACK BOX RECORDER OF AIR FRANCE 447, RECOVERED FROM 13,000 FEET BELOW THE OCEAN, SHOWS THE JUMBO JET STALLED, BEFORE IT PLUNGED INTO THE SEA, KILLING ALL 228 PEOPLE ABOARD 2 YEARS AGO.

THE FINDINGS INDICATE THE AIR SPEED SENSORS OUTSIDE THE PLANE ICED OVER, CAUSING THE AUTO PILOT AND AUTO THRUST SYSTEMS TO DISENGAGE. IT ALSO GAVE FALSE DATA TO THE PILOTS WHO THEN MADE A CRITICAL ERROR BY PUTTING THE NOSE OF THE PLANE UP, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO STALL. THE JET THEN BEGAN A 3 AND A HALF-MINUTE PLUNGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE OCEAN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN WORKING CONDITION AND FLYABLE, AND CRASHED ONLY DUE TO LOSS OF AIRSPEED.

KIDNAPPED GIRL SPOTTED IN LAKEPORT JKB 5/27/11

  • A 3 YEAR OLD GIRL WHOS FATHER ALLEGEDLY ABDUCTED HER FROM HER HOME IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, MAY HAVE BEEN SPOTTED AT LEAST TWICE IN LAKEPORT.

22 YEAR OLD NICHOLAS RIGGLE HAD BEEN IN LAKE COUNTY IN MARCH AND IS BELIEVED TO HAVE RETURNED TO THE AREA WITH HIS 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AVA, AND A WOMAN NAMED MARCY GEARHART, WHO ALSO USES THE LAST NAME OF RIGGLE. A WOMAN AND CHILD MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION OF AVA AND GEARHART WAS SPOTTED AT BRUNOS SHOP SMART ON LAKEPORT BLVD. AND AT CHASE BANK ON MAIN STREET IN LAKEPORT ON TUESDAY. RIGGLE, GEARHART AND THE GIRL ARE BELIEVED TO BE TRAVELING IN A 1989 FORD COACHMEN MOTOR HOME WITH A LICENSE PLATE NUMBER OF 2PWF894. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUSPECTS, VEHICLE OR CHILD IS ASKED TO CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.

NOR CAL TORNADOES JKB 5/27/11

  • AT LEAST 3 TORNADOES WERE REPORTED IN A SPARSELY POPULATED RURAL AREA JUST SOUTH OF CHICO YESTERDAY EVENING.

THE STORM THAT SPAWNED THE TORNADOES PASSED THROUGH THE AREA JUST AFTER 6 PM. A VIDEO SHOT FROM A NEWS CREW HELICOPTER SHOWED ONE OF THE TWISTERS FORMING AND TOUCHING DOWN NEAR DURHAM, ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTH OF CHICO. NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS REPORTED, THOUGH THERE WERE 4 MINOR ACCIDENTS IN THE AREA ATTRIBUTED TO THE STORM.

HOUSE FIRE JKB 5/27/11

  • FIRE INVESTIGATORS CONFIRMED ON MONDAY THAT A FIRE THAT DESTROYED AN OCEAN DRIVE HOME IN FORT BRAGG WAS STARTED BY A LAMP AND OLD COUCH.

THE OWNER OF THE HOME SAID A LAMP HAD GOTTEN KNOCKED ONTO THE COUCH AND BEGAN TO SMOLDER. SHE PUT THE FIRE OUT HERSELF AND THEN LEFT A SHORT WHILE LATER. SHE RETURNED AT AROUND 4 PM TO FIND THE HOUSE IN FLAMES. ONE END OF THE STRUCTURE WAS FULLY ENGULFED BY THE TIME FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED. THE HOME WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS EXCEPT FOR THE GARAGE. NO ONE WAS INJURED.

  • ACCORDING TO THE LATEST FIGURES FROM THE CALIFORNIA EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT, THE STATES UNEMPLOYMENT RATE EASED DOWN SLIGHTLY IN APRIL, DROPPING A TENTH OF A PERCENT TO 11.9.

$3 MILLION MUSEUM FACELIFT JKB 5/27/11

  • A $3 MILLION DOLLAR GRANT WILL GIVE THE GRACE HUDSON MUSEUM IN UKIAH A SIGNIFICANT FACE LIFT.

THE MUSEUM WAS ONE OF 44 SITES TO RECEIVE FUNDING FROM $94 MILLION DOLLARS THAT WAS UP FOR GRABS FROM THE NATURE EDUCATION FACILITIES GRANT PROGRAM.   • 4 MEN SUFFERED STAB WOUNDS AFTER A RIOT INVOLVING MORE THAN 200 INMATES BROKE OUT IN THE DINNING HALL AT SAN QUENTIN STATE PRISON SUNDAY NIGHT.

  • THERE WERE SOME TENSE MOMENTS LAST THURSDAY WHEN CLEARLAKE POLICE, RESPONDING TO WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS A HOSTAGE SITUATION IN A HOME, INSTEAD ENCOUNTERED UNDERCOVER NARCOTICS AGENTS FROM THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT THEY DIDNT KNOW WERE THERE.

CLEARLAKE POLICE OFFICERS HELD THE DEPUTIES AT GUNPOINT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES UNTIL THE PROPER IDENTIFICATIONS COULD BE MADE. WOMAN DIES AFTER PICK UP GOES IN RIVER JKB 5/19/11

  • A HUMBOLDT COUNTY WOMAN DIED WHEN SHE WAS UNABLE TO ESCAPE FROM A PICK UP TRUCK THAT HAD PLUMMETED 400 FEET OVER AN EMBANKMENT OFF HIGHWAY 101 AND INTO THE EEL RIVER LATE TUESDAY.

20 YEAR OLD AMANDA KLEMM OF MCKINLEYVILLE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE TRUCK DRIVEN BY 19 YEAR OLD NOAH CARTER OF EUREKA. ACCORDING TO THE CHP, CARTER LOST CONTROL IN RAINY WEATHER AS HE ENTERED A CURVE NORTH OF LEGGET AND PLUNGED OVER THE SIDE OF THE CLIFF AT AROUND 10:30 PM. THE TRUCK SANK IN APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET OF WATER. CARTER WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE THE SINKING TRUCK BUT KLEMM COULD NOT. OFFICIALS SAY ALCOHOL OR DRUGS DO NOT APPEAR TO BE A FACTOR IN THE CRASH.

BURGLARY ARREST JKB 5/19/11

  • A WILLITS MAN WAS ARRESTED FOR STEALING JEWELRY AND AN IPOD FROM A NEIGHBORS HOUSE AFTER SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE FROM A NEARBY BUSINESS WAS USED TO PLACE HIM AT THE SCENE.

18 YEAR OLD BRUCE EVAN CARTWRIGHT JR. ADMITTED TO HIS INVOLVEMENT AFTER AUTHORITIES CONFRONTED HIM WITH THE VIDEOTAPE ON TUESDAY, THAT HAD A VIEW OF THE VICTIMS HOUSE FROM AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT. CARTWRIGHT HELPED AUTHORITIES RECOVER SOME OF THE STOLEN ITEMS. HE WAS BOOKED INTO THE COUNTY JAIL WITH BAIL SET AT $50,000.

MOLESTATION SENTENCE JKB 5/19/11

  • A FORMER WILLITS SCHOOL TEACHER WHO PLEADED GUILTY THE ONGOING MOLESTATION OF A GIRL THAT BEGAN WHEN THE VICTIM WAS JUST 12 YEARS OLD, WAS SENTENCED TO 6 YEARS 8 MONTHS IN PRISON YESTERDAY.

28 YEAR OLD MEGHAN ALLISON STEWART ADMITTED TO MOLESTING THE VICTIM, WHO IS NOW 19, BETWEEN 50 AND 100 TIMES FROM SEPTEMBER OF 2004 TO AUGUST OF 2007 WHILE SHE WAS WORKING AS A SOCCER COACH WITH A LOCAL LEAGUE IN HUMBOLDT COUNTY. STEWART WAS ARRESTED JANUARY 4TH AT BAECHTEL GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL IN WILLITS WHERE SHE WAS HIRED TO TEACH PE IN AUGUST OF 2010.

  • A RASH OF COUNTERFEIT $100 BILLS HAS TURNED UP IN LAKE COUNTY DURING THE PAST WEEK AND THE LAKEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT IS URGING BUSINESSES TO BE VIGILANT.

PHONY $100 BILLS WERE PASSED AT TWO SEPARATE BUSINESSES ON SOUTH MAIN STREET IN LAKEPORT ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY, AND UMPQUA BANK REPORTED THAT COUNTERFEIT $100 BILLS FROM DIFFERENT BUSINESSES THROUGH OUT KELSEYVILLE AND LAKEPORT HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED. AUTHORITIES ARE ENCOURAGING LOCAL BUSINESSES TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH IDENTIFYING COUNTERFEIT BILLS.

KEVIN MARQUICE COULTER ANTHONY WAS ALREADY SERVING A 25 YEARS TO LIFE SENTENCE FOR A PRIOR RAPE CONVICTION. JUDGE VIRGINIA MARCOIDA SENTENCED HIM TO ANOTHER 25 YEARS TO LIFE SENTENCE PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 84 YEARS FOR THE RAPE OF THE ELDERLY WOMAN THAT OCCURRED IN 2005.

THE SHED, LOCATED AT 292 EAST GOBBI STREET BEHIND TAPESTRY FAMILY SERVICES WAS APPROVED FOR DEMOLITION IN JANUARY. A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE SHED A PUBLIC NUISANCE THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO GO BEFORE THE UKIAH CITY COUNCIL LAST NIGHT TURNED OUT TO BE UNNECESSARY.

DAVID EYSTER, WOULD CHANGE MARIJUANA CULTIVATION FROM A MANDATORY FELONY TO A SO-CALLED WOBBLER OFFENSE, GIVING DISTRICT ATTORNEYS THE OPTION OF CHARGING CULTIVATION OPERATIONS AS EITHER A MISDEMEANOR OR A FELONY. THE BILL PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE YESTERDAY AND WILL NOW HEAD TO THE ASSEMBLY FLOOR FOR CONSIDERATION.

  • THE MENDOCINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVED A MEASURE THAT WILL BE PLACED ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT THAT WILL ASK VOTERS TO SUPPORT A 1/8TH CENT SALES TAX INCREASE TO HELP FUND COUNTY LIBRARIES.

THE TAX, IF APPROVED WOULD APPLY IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF MENDOCINO COUNTY AND ITS 4 CITIES, AND WOULD END AFTER 16 YEARS. THE MEASURE WILL NEED A 2/3RDS MAJORITY TO PASS.

HIGH SPEED CHASE AND DRIVE BY SHOOTING JKB 5/18/11

  • A CLEARLAKE POLICE OFFICER WAS INJURED LATE MONDAY NIGHT WHEN HE CRASHED HIS PATROL CAR DURING A HIGH SPEED CHASE.

THE OFFICER, WHOSE NAME WAS NOT RELEASED WAS TREATED AT ST. HELENA HOSPITAL FOR NON LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. THE MAN HE WAS CHASING, 28 YEAR OLD JOSHUA SMITH OF CLEARLAKE WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE AFTER ABANDONING HIS VEHICLE ON BIG CANYON ROAD. HE REMAINS AT LARGE. THE CHASE, WHICH REACHED SPEEDS OF 100 MILES AN HOUR, BEGAN AFTER OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A CALL THAT SMITH HAD DRIVEN PAST THE HOME OF A WOMAN IN VIOLATION OF A COURT ORDER AND THREATENED TO HARM HER WITH A KNIFE. SMITH ALREADY HAD WARRANTS FOR HIS ARREST IN LAKE COUNTY AND IS A SUSPECT IN A HOME INVASION ROBBERY THAT OCCURRED LAST WEEK.

POLICE ARE ALSO INVESTIGATING WHETHER HE WAS CONNECTED TO A DRIVE BY SHOOTING THAT TOOK PLACE ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS THE HIGH SPEED CHASE. THE CHASE WAS CALLED OFF WHEN POLICE RECEIVED THE CALL ABOUT THE SHOOTING THAT OCCURRED JUST BEFORE 11 PM. A 16 YEAR OLD MALE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO ST HELENA HOSPITAL WITH A SINGLE NON LIFE THREATENING GUNSHOT WOUND TO HIS UPPER HEAD. DETAILS OF THE SHOOTING WERE NOT RELEASED, BUT IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE SUSPECT FLED IN A VEHICLE, AND THAT THE INCIDENT MAY HAVE BEEN GANG RELATED. THE BOYS MOTHER CALLED 911 AT 8:10 AM AND REPORTED THAT HER SON WAS BREAKING THINGS AND HAD SPREAD LIGHTER FLUID AND TOILET PAPER THROUGH THE HOUSE AND TRIED TO LIGHT A FIRE IN THE BATHROOM. THE HOME WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN FLAMES BY THE TIME FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED MINUTES LATER. THE BOY WAS ARRESTED AND TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR A MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATION BEFORE BEING BOOKED INTO THE LAKE COUNTY JUVENILE HALL.

  • THE EARTHQUAKE THAT SHOOK AN AREA 6 MILES NORTH-NORTH EAST OF UKIAH YESTERDAY WAS DOWNGRADED FROM A 3.8 TO A 3.7 BY THE US. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY THIS MORNING.

THAT QUAKE, WHICH OCCURRED AT 8:20 AM, WAS FOLLOWED BY 3 AFTERSHOCKS RANGING IN SIZE BETWEEN 1.3 AND 2.5 IN MAGNITUDE. 11 QUAKES HAVE STRUCK THE SAME AREA SINCE SATURDAY.

  • TWO HIKERS HAVE DIED AT YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, BECOMING THE PARKS FIRST ACCIDENTAL FATALITIES OF THE YEAR.

ACCORDING TO AUTHORITIES, KENT BUTLER OF AUSTIN TEXAS DIED FRIDAY AFTER SLIPPING ON A ROCK SLAB WHILE HIKING THE MIST TRAIL, A ROUTE MADE WET AND SLICK BY MELTING SNOW. BUTLER FELL INTO THE MERCED RIVER, BECAME LODGE IN ROCKS AND APPARENTLY DROWNED. JAMES DUNBAR OF BERKELEY ALSO DIED FRIDAY AFTER HE SUSTAINED A SEVERE HEAD INJURY WHEN HE TRIPPED AND FELL WHILE RUNNING DOWN THE STEEP UPPER YOSEMITE FALL TRAIL. AN AVERAGE OF 12 TO 15 DEATHS OCCUR IN THE PARK EACH YEAR, RANGING FROM SLIPS AND FALLS TO DROWNINGS AND DEATHS FROM NATURAL CAUSES.

  • FORT BRAGG POLICE FOLLOWING UP ON A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE THAT WAS SPOTTED NEAR THE FORT BRAGG MINI STORAGE, ARRESTED A MAN ON DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGES SUNDAY EVENING.

33 YEAR OLD NICKOLAS BOLLMAN WAS STOPPED AND FOUND TO BE DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE. A SEARCH OF HIS VEHICLE TURNED UP DANGEROUS IMPACT AND CUTTING WEAPONS PLACED WITHIN EASY REACH OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. HE WAS ALSO FOUND IN POSSESSION OF APPROXIMATELY 3 AND A HALF GRAMS OF CRYSTAL METH, AND A GLASS SMOKING PIPE. HE WAS BOOKED INTO THE COUNTY JAIL WHERE HE IS BEING HELD ON $15,000 BAIL.

  • AN OUTBREAK OF EQUINE HERPES MYELOENCEPHALOPATHY, OR EHM, HAS BEEN DETECTED AROUND THE STATE AND HORSE OWNERS ARE BEING ADVISED TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE DISEASE.

ACCORDING TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE, THE ILLNESS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED IN 10 HORSES IN CALIFORNIA. ONE HORSE IN KERN COUNTY WAS EUTHANIZED AFTER SHOWING SEVERE NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DISEASE.
