PERSON OF INTEREST SOUGHT IN SHOOTING JKB 6/20/11

  • LAKE COUNTY AUTHORITIES ARE SEARCHING FOR A MAN BELIEVED TO BE INVOLVED IN A SHOOTING IN CLEARLAKE SATURDAY NIGHT THAT WOUNDED 5 PEOPLE AND KILLED A 4 YEAR OLD BOY.

29 YEAR OLD KEVIN STONE OF CLEARLAKE IS BEING SOUGHT AS A PERSON OF INTEREST IN THE SHOOTING THAT OCCURRED JUST BEFORE 11 PM. POLICE HAVE WITHHELD THE NAMES OF THE VICTIMS, INCLUDING BOY WHO DIED AFTER BEING TAKEN TO ST. HELENA HOSPITAL. THE 5 OTHERS WERE TAKEN BY HELICOPTER TO SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER. THEIR CONDITIONS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED. STONE IS DESCRIBED AS A WHITE MALE ADULT WITH BROWN EYES AND BROWN HAIR, STANDING 5 FEET 10 INCHES TALL AND WEIGHING 170 POUNDS. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON HIS WHEREABOUTS IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE CLEARLAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WOMAN KILLED IN DRIVEWAY JKB 6/20/11

  • A KELSEYVILLE WOMAN WAS KILLED IN AN APPARENT TRAGIC ACCIDENT IN A DRIVEWAY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

65 YEAR OLD MARGE BRINK WAS HELPING HER FRIEND, 72 YEAR OLD DAVID ROBBINS BACK HIS PICK UP TRUCK INTO HIS DRIVEWAY, WHEN HE LOST SIGHT OF HER AND BACKED INTO HER, PINNING HER AGAINST A PORTION OF THE GARAGE AT AROUND 3 PM. ROBBINS CALLED 911 AND ATTEMPTED TO PROVIDE FIRST AID. BRINK WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. FOUL PLAY IS NOT SUSPECTED, AND NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WERE FOUND WITH THE TRUCK.

FIRE IN SONOMA COUNTY JAIL JKB 6/20/11

  • A MATTRESS FIRE IN A CELL AT THE SONOMA COUNTY JAIL LAST NIGHT, APPEARED TO BE INTENTIONALLY SET BY THE JAIL INMATE.

CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS QUICKLY DOUSED THE BLAZE. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE FIRE WAS STARTED AT AROUND 7:25 PM USING A SPARK PRODUCED BY A LIGHT FIXTURE THAT HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

FATHER AND TWO KIDS RESCUED JKB 6/20/11

  • A FATHER AND HIS TWO CHILDREN WERE RESCUED AFTER THEIR BOAT CAPSIZED IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY ON FATHERS DAY.

A COAST GUARD CREW RESCUED THE THREE AFTER THEIR 19 FOOT ALUMINUM BOAT OVERTURNED NEAR ALAMEDA. THE FAMILY OF THREE WERE IN THE WATER FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES BEFORE RESCUERS ARRIVED. IT IS NOT KNOW IF THEY WERE WEARING LIFE VESTS. ALL THREE WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR EVALUATION.

BODY FOUND JKB 6/20/11

  • POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE DISCOVERY OF A BODY FOUND ON DAM ROAD BEHIND RAYS FOOD PLACE IN CLEARLAKE THURSDAY EVENING.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAUSE OF DEATH AND IDENTITY OF THE BODY IS PENDING FURTHER INVESTIGATION.

SHERIFFS LIEUTENANT INJURED JKB 6/20/11

  • AN OFF DUTY MENDOCINO COUNTY SHERIFFS LIEUTENANT AND HIS WIFE WERE INJURED WHEN THEIR MOTORCYCLE STRUCK A PICK UP TRUCK TOWING A TRAVEL TRAILER ON HIGHWAY 20 BETWEEN FORT BRAGG AND WILLITS ON SATURDAY.

ACCORDING TO THE CHP, LT. JOHN BUSHNELL AND HIS WIFE WERE FOLLOWING THE TRUCK AND TRAILER AND BEGAN TO PASS WHEN THE TRUCK SLOWED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN WITHOUT SIGNALING. THE TRUCK TURNED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE MOTORCYCLE, AND BUSHNELL LAID THE BIKE OVER TO AVOID A DIRECT IMPACT. THE MOTORCYCLE STRUCK THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE BUSHNELLS ENDED UP PINNED UNDERNEATH THE TRAVEL TRAILER. BUSHNELL SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES, WHILE HIS WIFE SUFFERED MODERATE INJURIES.

BURNS TO LEAVE UVMC JKB 6/20/11

  • PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE UKIAH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER, TERRY BURNS ANNOUNCED THAT HIS IS RESIGNING LAST WEEK.

BURNS WILL LEAVE UVMC AND ADVENTIST HEALTH IN MID JULY AND JOIN OHIO-BASED KETTERING HEALTH NETWORK AS PRESIDENT OF GREENE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ZENIA AND SOIN MEDICAL CENTER IN FAIRBORN. A COMMUNITY WIDE FAREWELL ROAST IS PLANNED FOR JULY 18TH AT 5:30 PM AT THE UKIAH VALLEY CONFERENCE CENTER. SHERIFF TOM ALLMAN WILL SERVE AS MASTER OF CEREMONIES. A COME AND GO RECEPTION WILL BE HELD FORM 5 TO 7 PM, WITH THE ROAST BEGINNING AT 5:30 PM.

WILLITS STABBING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LA JKB 6/20/11

  • A WILLITS MAN WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH A GANG RELATED STABBING WAS ARRESTED IN L.A. EARLIER THIS MONTH AND RETURNED TO MENDOCINO COUNTY LAST WEEK.

ALEXANDER CISNEROS HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH THE ATTEMPTED MURDER OF THE 20 YEAR OLD VICTIM FOR A STABBING THAT OCCURRED OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL STREET APARTMENTS APRIL 9TH.

DRUG BUST JKB 6/20/11

  • A CLEARLAKE OAKS WOMAN WAS ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES AFTER BEING FOUND IN POSSESSION OF MORE THAN A HALF OUNCE OF METHAMPHETAMINE DURING THE SERVICE OF A SEARCH WARRANT LAST WEEK.

47 YEAR OLD TAMMI DURAN WAS ARRESTED ON FRIDAY AFTER POLICE FORCED THEIR WAY INTO HER HOME ON THE WARRANT WHEN SHE REFUSED TO ANSWER THE DOOR.

HIGHWAY 53 ROADWORK JKB 6/20/11

  • CALTRANS HAS BEGUN WORK ON A HIGHWAY REHABILITATION PROJECT ON HIGHWAY 53 FORM JUST SOUTH OF 40TH AVENUE TO ROUTE 20.

ONE WAY CONTROLLED TRAFFIC WILL BE IN EFFECT DURING THE WORK HOURS FROM 7 AM TO 6 PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. MOTORISTS SHOULD ANTICIPATE AT LEAST 10 MINUTE DELAYS.

FIRE SEASON STARTS JKB 6/20/11

  • CAL FIRE HAS DECLARED TODAY AS THE START OF THE NORTH COAST FIRE SEASON AND IS WARNING THAT LATE SEASON RAINS HAVE PRODUCED A BUMPER CROP OF FAST DRYING GRASSES THAT HOLD THE STRONG POTENTIAL FOR FASTER AND HOTTER BURNING WILDFIRES.

HOMEOWNERS ARE ADVISED TO MAKE SURE THERE IS PLENTY OF CLEAR SPACE AROUND THEIR HOMES, AND ANYONE LIVING IN FOREST, BRUSH, GRASS COVERED OR MOUNTAINOUS AREAS ARE REQUIRED TO CREATE AT LEAST 100 FEET OF DEFENSIBLE SPACE AROUND BUILDINGS.

ATV FATALITY ID JKB 6/17/11

  • A COBB MAN WHO WAS KILLED IN AN ATV CRASH TUESDAY NIGHT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS 26 YEAR OLD SAMUEL DOUGLAS MURPHY.

MURPHY WAS RIDING ON GIFFORD SPRINGS ROAD NEAR BOGGS MOUNTAIN STATE FOREST WHEN HE MISSED A TURN AND CRASHED INTO A GROUP OF TREES. MURPHY WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET AND WAS DECLARED DEAD AT THE SCENE. INVESTIGATORS SAY ALCOHOL APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A FACTOR IN THE CRASH.

FIRST EVER MEDICAL PAROLE GRANTED TO LAKE COUNTY MAN JKB 6/17/11

  • THE CALIFORNIA BOARD OF PAROLE HEARINGS ON WEDNESDAY, GRANTED THE FIRST EVER MEDICAL PAROLE TO A FORMER LAKE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 68 YEARS IN PRISON FOR A 3RD STRIKE OFFENSE.

THE BOARD FOUND 48 YEAR OLD CRAIG ALVIN LEMKE WAS NO LONGER A SAFETY RISK DUE TO HIS GREATLY IMPAIRED MEDICAL CONDITION. LEMKE HAS SUFFERED FROM BRAIN TUMORS, WHICH HAS LEFT HIM A QUADRIPLEGIC, NEEDING FEEDING AND BREATHING TUBES AND 24 HOUR CARE. LEMKE WAS THE 2ND CALIFORNIA PRISON INMATE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MEDICAL PAROLE, BUT THE FIRST TO BE GRANTED RELEASE UNDER THE NEW LAWS.

RAILROAD TUNNEL FIRE JKB 6/17/11

  • FIRE CREWS ARE BATTLING A RAILROAD TUNNEL FIRE NORTH OF CLOVERDALE.

THE FIRE INSIDE THE 1,750 FOOT TUNNEL JUST EAST OF HIGHWAY 101 WAS FIRST REPORTED WEDNESDAY NIGHT. FIREFIGHTERS ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY EXTINGUISHING THE BLAZE BECAUSE IT HAS WEAKENED THE TUNNELS SUPPORTING TIMBERS, MAKING IT UNSAFE TO ENTER. CREWS ARE EXPECTED TO LET THE FIRE BURN ITSELF OUT. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE BLAZE.

HOUSE FIRE JKB 6/17/11

  • A FIRE THAT DESTROYED A HOME IN ELK ON WEDNESDAY APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN SPARKED BY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM STEMMING FROM ANOTHER FIRE IN THE SAME HOUSE 4 DAYS EARLIER.

BOTH FIRES STARTED IN A BEDROOM BUILT INTO A 3 CAR GARAGE ON THE PROPERTY. THE 2ND BLAZE OCCURRED AFTER POWER WAS RESTORED TO THE ROOM FOLLOWING THE ORIGINAL FIRE. THE HOUSE BURNED TO THE GROUND AND WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS.

NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY PLEA JKB 6/17/11

  • A FORMER PATIENT INMATE AT NAPA STATE MENTAL HOSPITAL PLEADED NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY TUESDAY, TO KIDNAPPING AND STRANGLING A PSYCHIATRIC NURSE THERE LAST YEAR.

37-YEAR-OLD JESS MASSEY ADMITTED TO KILLING 54 YEAR OLD NURSE DONNA GROSS HOURS AFTER HER BODY WAS FOUND IN AN ENCLOSED PATIO AREA OF THE HOSPITAL. A JUDGE APPOINTED TWO DOCTORS TO EVALUATE MASSEYS MENTAL HEALTH. A MENTAL HEALTH HEARING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST FIRST.

13 YEAR OLD ARRESTED FOR INTOXICATION JKB 6/17/11

  • WHAT FIRST APPEARED TO BE A BRUTAL ASSAULT, TURNED OUT TO BE A SIMPLE CASE OF UNDERAGE DRINKING MONDAY.

POLICE WERE CALLED TO HOME DEPOT AFTER AN EMPLOYEE SAW A NEARLY UNCONSCIOUS 13 YEAR OLD BOY BEING DRAGGED THROUGH THE PARKING LOT BY TWO OTHER TEENS. THE TEENS FLED WHEN THEY LEARNED POLICE HAD BEEN CALLED, LEAVING THE BOY BEHIND. THE BOY, WHO WAS VOMITING, CLAIMED HE HAD BEEN ASSAULTED WITH A METAL PIPE. AN INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THE TEEN HAD NOT BEEN HIT, BUT WAS EXTREMELY INTOXICATED ON ALCOHOL AND MARIJUANA. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE UKIAH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER BEFORE BEING BOOKED INTO JUVENILE HALL.

MAN ARRESTED FOR AIDING STABBING SUSPECT JKB 6/17/11

  • A LAKEPORT MAN WAS ARRESTED FOR HELPING A SUSPECT AVOID POLICE AND FLEE THE SCENE OF A DOUBLE STABBING THAT OCCURRED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.

65 YEAR OLD LAWRENCE EUGENE WILLIAMS WAS BOOKED INTO THE COUNTY JAIL FOR BEING AN ACCESSORY TO A FELONY FOR HELPING 34 YEAR OLD RONALD JAMES BLESIO GET AWAY AFTER THE ASSAULT. POLICE ARE CONTINUING TO SEARCH FOR BLESIO AND HIS GIRLFRIEND, 44 YEAR OLD CATHI LARAE LARSON.

CELL PHONE VIDEO LEADS TO ARREST JKB 6/17/11

  • OAKLAND POLICE CAPTURED A RAPIST ON WEDNESDAY, WHO WAS VIDEOED BY HIS VICTIM USING HER CELL PHONE WHILE HE BURGLARIZED HER HOUSE.

47 YEAR OLD MULTIPLE TIME FELON DION MCDANIEL WAS FOUND HIDING IN A DOGHOUSE. POLICE SAY THE 28 YEAR OLD VICTIM RECORDED MCDANIEL LEAVING HER HOME WITH ELECTRONIC ITEMS. HE THEN RETURNED AND ATTACKED HER. POLICE CREDITED MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE WOMANS CELL PHONE VIDEO WITH GENERATING TIPS THAT LED TO MCDANIELS ARREST.

MENDO BOS VOTES TO KEEP MASONITE INDUSTRIAL JKB 6/17/11

  • THE MENDOCINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS VOTED TO KEEP THE FORMER MASONITE PROPERTY ZONED FOR INDUSTRIAL USE, DESPITE THERE BEING VIRTUALLY NO DEMAND LOCALLY FOR INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES.

THE BOARD VOTED ON 26 OF 40 PROPOSED LAND USE CHANGES THAT COULD BE ADOPTED AS PART OF THE UKIAH VALLEY AREA PLAN AT THEIR MEETING TUESDAY. THE FORMER MASONITE PROPERTY AND THE LOVERS LANE NORTH AGRICULTURAL AREA HAD BOTH BEEN RECOMMENDED FOR CUSTOMIZED MIXED USE DESIGNATIONS IN THE PROPOSED UVAP. ALONG WITH THE MASONITE DECISION, THE BOARD ALSO VOTED TO KEEP THE LOVERS LANE PROPERTY ZONED AS AGRICULTURAL. BOTH VOTES WERE 4 TO 1 WITH SUPERVISOR PINCHES DISSENTING IN BOTH.

BROWN VETOES BUDGET JKB 6/17/11

  • LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER THE LEGISLATURE PRESENTED IT TO HIM, GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN VETOED THE PROPOSED BUDGET PACKAGE, SAYING IT WAS NOT FINANCIALLY VIABLE.

BROWN BALKED AT THE TWO MAIN BILLS, BUT LEFT THE REST OF THE PACKAGE INTACT, WHICH INCLUDES THE DISSOLUTION OF REDEVELOPMENT AGENCIES STATEWIDE, SO THEY ARE STILL ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK. ONLY 2 WEEKS ARE LEFT BEFORE THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR ENDS. IF LAWMAKERS AND THE GOVERNOR CANNOT AGREE TO A BUDGET, STATE LEGISLATURES COULD HAVE THEIR JUNE 30TH PAYCHECKS HELD UNTIL A BUDGET PASSES.

  • A 26 YEAR OLD COBB MAN WAS KILLED TUESDAY NIGHT WHEN THE ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE HE WAS RIDING CRASHED ON A CURVE IN A REMOTE AREA OF GIFFORD SPRINGS ROAD.

THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 7:35 PM. THE MAN, WHOS NAME HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED, WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE CHP IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER ALCOHOL WAS A FACTOR IN THE CRASH.

MINI VAN ACCIDENT JKB 6/16/11

  • AT LEAST ONE PERSON WAS INJURED WHEN A MINIVAN CARRYING 4 PASSENGERS, CRASHED INTO A TREE ON HIGHWAY 128 NEAR NAVARRO EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING.

THE CRASH OCCURRED AT 5:04 AM. ONE OF THE OCCUPANTS WAS AIRLIFTED TO SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF MAJOR INJURIES. NO OTHER DETAILS ABOUT THE ACCIDENT, THE CONDITION OF THE PASSENGERS, OR THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WERE AVAILABLE.

JOE MONTANA HURT IN ATV CRASH JKB 6/16/11

  • HALL OF FAME QUARTERBACK JOE MONTANA WAS INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT ON AN ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE OVER THE WEEKEND.

MONTANA, WHO WAS RIDING HIS ATV ON HIS RANCH NEAR CALISTOGA, WAS NOT SERIOUSLY HURT, BUT DID RECEIVE STITCHES ABOVE ONE EYE. THE ACCIDENT PREVENTED MONTANA FROM APPEARING BEFORE THE SANTA CLARA CITY COUNCIL MONDAY NIGHT, WHERE HE WAS SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS HIS PLANS TO DEVELOP A LUXURY HOTEL AND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX NEAR THE 49ERS PROPOSED NEW STADIUM IN SANTA CLARA.

MAN RESCUED AFTER JUMPING OFF BRIDGE JKB 6/16/11

  • QUICK ACTION BY FIREFIGHTERS SAVED A MAN WHO APPARENTLY JUMPED FROM THE CENTER SPAN OF THE SOMOA BRIDGE BETWEEN EUREKA AND WOODLEY ISLAND YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.

FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED ON SCENE LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER RECEIVING THE CALL THAT THE MAN HAD JUMPED JUST AFTER 1 PM. WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY SAW THE MAN FLOATING NEAR THE CENTER OF THE CHANNEL. A FIREFIGHTER WEARING A DRY SUIT WAS ABLE TO SWIM TO THE MAN AND BRING HIM BACK TO A NEARBY DOCK. THE MAN, WHOS NAME WAS NOT RELEASED, WAS TAKEN TO ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL IN EUREKA FOR TREATMENT. HIS CONDITION IS UNKNOWN.

DOUBLE SHOOTER HAD KIDNAP KIT JKB 6/16/11

  • POLICE SAY A 60 YEAR LOS GATOS MAN WHO SHOT A MOTHER AND HER 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN CRESCENT CITY TUESDAY MORNING, BEFORE TAKING HIS OWN LIFE LATER THE SAME DAY, HAD BROUGHT A KIDNAPPING KIT WITH HIM.

DETECTIVES SEARCHING JERRY WAYNE STEELS RENTAL CAR FOUND A BAG CONTAINING NIGHT VISION GOGGLES, A STUN GUN, DUCT TAPE, ROPE AND LARGE ZIP TIES. THEY ALSO FOUND FLOWERS AND A TEDDY BEAR INTENDED FOR 14 YEAR OLD CECILIA MORTENSEN, WHOM STEELE IS ACCUSED OF MOLESTING OVER A 4 YEAR PERIOD BEGINNING IN 2007. OFFICIALS SAY STEELE ATTEMPTED TO KIDNAP BOTH MORTENSEN AND HER MOTHER, ASHLEY VOLOR, BEFORE SHOOTING EACH ONCE IN THE HEAD SHORTLY BEFORE 7 AM. VOLOR IS EXPECTED TO RECOVER. MORTENSEN REMAINS ON LIFE SUPPORT PENDING ORGAN DONATION.

MAN SAVED AFTER SEVERING ARTERY JKB 6/16/11

  • A WELL COORDINATED MULTI AGENCY RESPONSE HELPED SAVE A MAN WHO SEVERED AN ARTERY IN A REMOTE AREA ON MENDOCINO PASS ROAD IN COVELO SUNDAY.

THE MAN HAD FALLEN AND PUNCTURED A HOLE IN HIS ANKLE, SEVERING AN ARTERY IN HIS FOOT. THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE ARRIVED FIRST AND PROVIDED FIRST AID UNTIL THE COVELO FIRE DEPARTMENT AMBULANCE ARRIVED. HE WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO AN AREA NEXT TO THE EEL RIVER BRIDGE BY THE BLACK BUTTE STORE WHERE HE WAS PICKED UP BY A CAL STAR HELICOPTER AND TAKEN TO THE UKIAH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER. THE MAN, WHOS NAME WAS NOT RELEASED, IS EXPECTED TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY.

OFFICER AT FAULT IN CROSS WALK INCIDENT JKB 6/16/11

  • ACCORDING TO A CHP INVESTIGATION, A SANTA ROSA POLICE OFFICER WAS AT FAULT WHEN HE STRUCK A 6 YEAR OLD BOY WHO WAS WALKING WITH HIS FAMILY IN A CROSSWALK, BUT WAS NOT IN VIOLATION OF ANY TRAFFIC LAWS.

OFFICER NOLAN CLEALL WAS RESPONDING LEGALLY WHEN HE ACTIVATED HIS EMERGENCY LIGHTS IN RESPONSE TO A REPORT OF A FIGHT IN PROGRESS AT AROUND 11 PM APRIL 23RD. HE STRUCK 6 YEAR OLD OSCAR VASQUEZ, AS HE WAS TURNING FROM SEBASTOPOL ROAD ONTO WEST AVENUE. FORTUNATELY, THE BOY SUFFERED ONLY MINOR BUMPS AND BRUISES. NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION IS ANTICIPATED.

MISSING STUDENT MOST LIKELY DEAD JKB 6/8/11

  • POLICE SAY CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE IN THE CASE OF A MISSING EAST BAY NURSING STUDENT INDICATES SHE WAS THE VICTIM OF A HOMICIDE.

EVIDENCE GATHERED FROM 26 YEAR OLD MICHELLE LES CAR, VIDEO FOOTAGE FROM THE GARAGE WHERE SHE WAS LAST SEEN ALIVE, AND OTHER EVIDENCE HAS LED INVESTIGATORS TO BELIEVE SHE WAS KILLED. LE WAS LAST SEEN MAY 27TH WHEN SHE TOOK A BREAK FORM WORK DURING A CLINICAL ROTATION SHIFT AT HAYWARD HOSPITAL AND NEVER RETURNED. NO SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED, BUT DETECTIVES ARE QUESTIONING PEOPLE OF INTEREST.

MOLESTATION ARREST JKB 6/8/11

  • A CLEARLAKE MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CONFESSING TO THE ONGOING MOLESTATION OF A YOUNG GIRL OVER A PERIOD OF 4 YEARS.

THE VICTIM AND HER MOTHER REPORTED THE CRIME TO POLICE JUNE 1ST. WHEN CONFRONTED WITH THE ALLEGATIONS, 55 YEAR OLD RICHARD ALAN HEADRICK REPORTEDLY ADMITTED TO POLICE THAT HE HAD COMMITTED APPROXIMATELY 25 ACTS OF MOLESTATION FROM THE TIME THE VICTIM WAS 7 YEARS OLD UNTIL SHE WAS 11, WITH THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRING 2 YEARS AGO. HEADRICK WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY JUNE 4TH.

LAKE COUNTY BOS TO HOLD MEDICAL POT MEETINGS JKB 6/8/11

  • THE LAKE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HAS VOTED TO HOLD MEETINGS IN THEIR CHAMBERS TO DISCUSS AMENDMENTS TO THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY ZONING ORDINANCE, DESPITE HAVING TO CANCEL AN EARLIER SUCH MEETING BECAUSE OF A BOMB THREAT.

THERE WAS TALK OF MOVING THE POT DISPENSARY DISCUSSIONS TO THE LAKE COUNTY JAIL AFTER THE APRIL 28TH MEETING WAS CANCELED. NO BOMB WAS EVER FOUND. AFTER TUESDAYS VOTE, THE SUPES WILL CONSIDER THE NEW ZONING ORDINANCE AT THEIR JUNE 21ST MEETING.

WILLITS FIRM TO HANDLE HUMBOLDT RECYCLING JKB 6/8/11

  • SOLID WASTE OF WILLITS HAS EXTENDED ITS REACH INTO HUMBOLDT COUNTY, AND WILL BE HANDLING THE RECYCLING FOR THE UNINCORPORATED EUREKA AREA PENDING FINAL APPROVAL.

THE HUMBOLDT COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO SIGN A RECYCLING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING THAT WAS NEGOTIATED BY THE HUMBOLDT WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY AFTER SOLID WASTE OF WILLITS, RENEWABLE WAIST SYSTEMS UNDERBID THE LOCAL ARCATA COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTER IN A PROPOSED 5 YEAR CONTRACT. THE FINAL DECISION TO FINALIZE THE CONTRACT WILL BE UNDERTAKEN THIS THURSDAY.

FIGHT ARRESTS JKB 6/8/11

  • TWO POINT ARENA MEN WERE ARRESTED AFTER GETTING INTO AN ALCOHOL FUELED FIGHT OUTSIDE THE GENERAL STORE IN POINT ARENA SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

32 JULIO AGUILAR ATTEMPTED TO STAB 19 YEAR OLD ARTURO GARCIA WITH A BROKEN BEER BOTTLE BEFORE ABANDONING IT AND USING ONLY HIS FISTS. THE TWO MEN WERE STILL FIGHTING WHEN DEPUTIES ARRIVED. AGUILAR WAS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON. ARTURO WAS ARRESTED FOR RESTING ARREST AFTER TAKING AN AGGRESSIVE STANCE AGAINST A DEPUTY. BOTH MEN WERE RELEASED AFTER POSTING BAIL.
