SECOND INDECENT EXPOSURE IN LAKEPORT J KB 4/26/12

  • ANOTHER INDECENT EXPOSURE INCIDENT HAS BEEN REPORTED IN LAKEPORT, THE SECOND IN AS MANY DAYS.

ACCORDING TO POLICE, THE FEMALE VICTIM NOTICED A NEWER MODEL BLUE CHEVY IMPALA WITH AN AIR FIN ON THE TRUNK FOLLOWING HER AS SHE DROVE THROUGH TOWN. WHEN SHE REACHED THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTH MAIN STREET AND LAKEPORT BLVD, THE SUSPECT PULLED ALONG SIDE TO HER LEFT AND HONKED HIS HORN TO GET HER ATTENTION. WHEN THE VICTIM LOOKED OVER, SHE SAW THE DRIVER MASTURBATING WHILE LOOKING DIRECTLY AT HER. THE SUSPECT IS DESCRIBED AS BEING A WHITE MALE ADULT, 30 TO 35 YEARS OF AGE, WITH A THIN BUILD, WEARING A BLACK BASEBALL CAP, SUNGLASSES, WHITE T-SHIRT AND BLUE JEANS. THE DESCRIPTION IS SIMILAR TO THE SUSPECT INVOLVED IN AN INDECENT EXPOSURE INCIDENT ON TUESDAY MORNING IN WHICH A MASTURBATING MAN RAN AFTER A FEMALE JOGGER. POLICE BELIEVE THE TWO INCIDENTS ARE RELATED AND INVOLVE THE SAME SUSPECT. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON EITHER INCIDENT IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE LAKEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT.

PROSECUTOR INVESTIGATED FOR POT GROW JKB 4/26/12

  • A MENDOCINO COUNTY PROSECUTOR IS BEING INVESTIGATED IN CONNECTION WITH A MARIJUANA GROWING OPERATION FOUND AT HIS HOME ON MONDAY.

A SEARCH WARRANT WAS SERVED ON THE HOME THAT DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY SERGIO FUENTES SHARES WITH HIS MOTHER IN UKIAH. POLICE FOUND ABOUT 150 GROWING MARIJUANA PLANTS. FUENTES HAS BEEN PLACED ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE PENDING THE OUTCOME OF AN INVESTIGATION. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE.

BODY FOUND AT BODEGA HEAD JKB 4/26/12

  • SONOMA COUNTY AUTHORITIES RETRIEVED THE REMAINS OF AN UNIDENTIFIED MAN FROM THE SURF BELOW BODEGA HEAD YESTERDAY MORNING.

THE BODY WAS SPOTTED AT THE BASE OF A 250 FOOT CLIFF BY TOURISTS HIKING IN THE AREA TUESDAY EVENING. INVESTIGATORS SAY IT IS TOO EARLY TO TELL IF THE BODY IS THAT OF ONE OF THE FOUR MISSING CREW MEMBERS FROM A SAILBOAT THAT CAPSIZED APRIL 14TH OFF THE FARALLON ISLANDS, BUT SAID IS WAS ONE OF MULTIPLE POSSIBILITIES. ACCORDING TO OFFICIALS THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF FOUL PLAY. AN AUTOPSY IS EXPECTED TO BE CONDUCTED TODAY OR TOMORROW.

SEX SOLICITATION SENTENCE JKB 4/26/12

  • A CLEARLAKE MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO THE MAXIMUM TERM POSSIBLE FOR SOLICITING SEX WITH A TEENAGE GIRL THROUGH FACEBOOK MESSAGES AND TEXTS, AND FOR USING FACEBOOK TO SEND A LEWD MESSAGE TO ANOTHER UNDERAGE GIRL.

29 YEAR OLD JASON RUSSELL WAS SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IN STATE PRISON. ACCORDING TO PROSECUTORS, RUSSELL CONTACTED THE FIRST VICTIM THROUGH FACEBOOK. SHE RESPONDED BY TELLING HIM THAT SHE WAS JUST 15 YEARS OLD AND ASKED THAT HE STOP CONTACTING HER. WHEN HE CONTINUED WITH THE SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MESSAGES, SHE TOLD HER PARENTS, WHO THEN CONTACTED POLICE. A SHERIFFS INVESTIGATOR POSING AS THE VICTIM, CONTACTED RUSSELL AND SET UP A DATE TO GET TOGETHER WITH HIM AT AUSTIN PARK TO HAVE SEX. RUSSELL WAS ARRESTED AT THE PRESCRIBED MEETING PLACE AND TIME. HE ADMITTED TO GOING THERE WITH THE INTENT TO HAVE SEX WITH THE MINOR VICTIM. AFTER HIS ARREST ANOTHER MINOR VICTIM CAME FORWARD SAYING SHE TOO HAD RECEIVED A SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MESSAGE FROM RUSSELL.

TROTTER NAMED CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER JKB 4/26/12

  • DR. MARVIN TROTTER HAS BEEN NAMED THE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER AT THE UKIAH VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER.

DR. TROTTER IS AN EMERGENCY MEDICINE DOCTOR AND HOSPITALIST AT THE MEDICAL CENTER. HE IS REPLACING DR. DALE MORRISON WHO STEPPED DOWN IN ORDER TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIS CARDIOLOGY PATIENTS. AS PART OF HIS NEW DUTIES DR. TROTTER WILL BE A MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE TEAM AND WILL REPRESENT THE MEDICAL STAFF IN AREAS OF VISION, QUALITY, AND GROWTH. HE WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO SERVE AS A HOSPITALIST FOR INPATIENT CARE.

CLEAN AIR IN LAKE AND MENDOCINO COUNTIES JKB 4/26/12

  • BOTH LAKE AND MENDOCINO COUNTIES HAVE SOME OF THE CLEANEST AIR IN THE STATE ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION.

AN ANNUAL REPORT ON AIR QUALITY RELEASED THIS WEEK SHOWS BOTH COUNTIES RANKED IN THE TOP NINE COUNTIES IN THE STATE FOR THE CLEANEST OZONE LEVELS, AND TOP SEVEN COUNTIES FOR PARTICLE POLLUTION.

ROUND VALLEY TRIBE TO RECEIVE SETTLEMENT MONEY JKB 4/26/12

  • THE ROUND VALLEY INDIAN TRIBE WILL RECEIVE $8.5 MILLION DOLLARS TO SETTLE A LAWSUIT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

THE LAWSUIT, FILED IN 2006, ALLEGES FEDERAL MISMANAGEMENT OF TRIBAL RESOURCES DATING BACK TO 1856 WHEN THE ROUND VALLEY INDIAN RESERVATION WAS ESTABLISHED. THE SETTLEMENT IS PART OF A $1 BILLION DOLLAR AGREEMENT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MADE WITH 41 TRIBES WHO FILED INDIVIDUAL LAWSUITS FOR MISMANAGEMENT OF FUNDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES. ROUND VALLEY TRIBAL LEADERS SAY THE MONEY WILL BE USED TO FUND COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND JOB CREATION.

  • A WELL KNOWN LAKE COUNTY PHOTOGRAPHER HAS WON THE GRAND PRIZE IN THE YEAR LONG CALIFORNIA WATCHABLE WILDLIFE AND OUTDOOR CALIFORNIA PHOTO CONTEST.

LYLE MADESONS PHOTO OF AN OSPREY AND RED-TAILED HAWK VYING FOR THE SAME FISH WAS SELECTED FROM THE 12 MONTHLY FIRST PLACE WINNERS FOR THE TOP HONOR. THE WINNING PHOTO WAS TAKEN AT CLEAR LAKE STATE PARK. MADESON WAS AWARDED A CHECK FOR $200 A NIKON BINOCULAR DONATED BY OUT OF THIS WORLD IN MENDOCINO AND A MEMBERSHIP AND STATE PARKS PASS DONATED BY THE CALIFORNIA STATE PARKS FOUNDATION.
