ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT, 22 YEAR OLD RAYMOND RICHARD CASILLAS OF LAKEPORT WAS CAPTURED SATURDAY EVENING IN WINDSOR.

THANKS TO A CONCERNED CITIZEN WHO RECOGNIZED CASILLAS FROM THE WANTED INFORMATION, POLICE FOUND HIM AT A RESIDENCE IN WINDSOR, AND CASILLAS WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT INCIDENT. CASSILLAS WAS WANTED FOR ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO SHOOT ANOTHER MAN FRIDAY NIGHT DURING A FIGHT IN LAKEPORT. HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY THEN, BUT MANAGED TO ESCAPE WITH THE HELP OF DANA ROCHELLE HUENERS OF LAKEPORT. HUENERS WAS ARRESTED LATER FRIDAY NIGHT AND CHARGED WITH BEING AN ACCESSORY TO A FELONY AND ASSISTING IN AN ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY. CASILLAS IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING RETURNED TO LAKE COUNTY FOR PROSECUTION.

ACTING ON A TIP FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LAW ENFORCEMENT, MENDOCINO MAJOR CRIMES TASK FORCE ACQUIRED A SEARCH WARRANT AND PULLED OVER 44 YEAR OLD GREGORY BERNARD BARNES, OF LINCOLN NEBRASKA, AT THE CORNER OF SOUTH MAIN STREET AND HIGHWAY 20 FRIDAY NIGHT. A SEARCH OF THE MEN AND VEHICLE TURNED UP 3 OUNCES OF METHAMPHETAMINE. BARNES TOLD POLICE HE WAS PLANNING TO TRADE THE METH FOR 6 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA TO TAKE BACK TO NEBRASKA AND SELL. BARNES AND HIS PASSENGER, KEYMAL BERT RUCKER, OF LOS ANGELES, WERE ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO MENDOCINO COUNTY JAIL.

CYCLIST INJURED IN CRASH JH 06/25/12

A CYCLIST WAS INJURED IN A CRASH IN HEALDSBURG SATURDAY MORNING.

25 YEAR OLD DANA GROLLE OF SANTA ROSA WAS FOLLOWING A PICKUP TRUCK ON PARKLAND FARMS BOULEVARD, WHEN THE TRUCK TURNED RIGHT AND GROLLE DID NOT. GROLLE HIT THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND SUFFERED ABDOMINAL INJURIES. GROLLE WAS TAKEN TO SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

FATAL ATV CRASH JH 06/25/12

MENDOCINO COUNTY AUTHORITIES WERE INVESTIGATING THE DEATH OF A PERSON EARLY SUNDAY WHO APPEARED TO HAVE CRASHED ON AN ATV.

THE CRASH WAS REPORTED AT 8:25 AM ON PRIVATE PROPERTY NORTH OF WILLITS. ACCORDING TO CHP, THE VICTIM APPEARED TO HAVE CRASHED SOMETIME SATURDAY. NO MORE DETAIL WAS AVAILABLE, AND THE INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

MOTHER TO SERVE TIME FOR SEX CRIMES JH 06/25/12

A WOMAN FROM NICE WHO WAS CONVICTED FOR ACTS OF INCEST WITH HER 16 YEAR OLD BIOLOGICAL SON, WAS SENTENCED WEDNESDAY IN NAPA COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT.

32 YEAR OLD MISTIE REBECCA ATKINSON HAD PLEADED NO CONTEST TO SEX CHARGES STEMMING FROM EVENTS WHEN SHE WAS REUNITED WITH HER SON THAT SHE HAD NOT SEEN SINCE HE WAS A TODDLER. ATKINSON TOLD THE COURT THAT SHE DIDNT COMMIT INCEST BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT THE CRIME COULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A PHENOMENON CALLED GENETIC ATTRACTION. SHE WAS SENTENCED TO SERVE 4 YEARS AND EIGHT MONTHS IN STATE PRISON.

CLEARLAKE FIRE JH 06/25/12

A FIRE THAT BROKE OUT IN CLEARLAKE EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON WAS CONTAINED TO FOUR ACRES THANKS TO QUICK RESPONSE BY FIREFIGHTERS.

THE FIRE, REPORTED AT AROUND 1 PM, WAS LOCATED OFF EASTLAKE DRIVE NEAR POMO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. ACCORDING TO AUTHORITIES, THE FIRE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A SPARK FROM SOMEONE MOWING GRASS IN THE AREA.
