A WOMAN WAS SHOOT IN THE FACE DURING A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN GUALALA TUESDAY NIGHT

THE UNIDENTIFIED 39 YEAR OLD VICTIM WAS STANDING IN HER FRONT YARD, WHEN A VEHICLE SLOWLY DROVE BY AND FIRED MULTIPLE SHOTGUN BLASTS AT A CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF THE HOME. SEVERAL SHOTGUN PELLETS HIT THE WOMAN IN THE FACE CAUSING SERIOUS EYE INJURY. SHERIFFS DEPUTIES RESPONDED FROM BOTH MENDOCINO AND SONOMA COUNTIES. THE SONOMA COUNTY DEPUTY RECOGNIZED THE VEHICLE DESCRIPTION AS BELONGING TO 18 YEAR OLD LAMONT SALGADO OF THE KASHIA RESERVATION IN STEWARTS POINT. DEPUTIES LOCATED THE VEHICLE A SHORT TIME LATER ON SKAGGS SPRINGS ROAD. THE VEHICLE CONTAINED EXPENDED SHOTGUN SHELLS MATCHING THOSE FROM THE SCENE. SALGADO AND HIS ACCOMPLICE, 21 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER OCHOA OF ROHNERT PARK WERE LOCATED AT A NEARBY RESIDENCE AND ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES.

A 14 YEAR OLD MALE AND HIS 11 YEAR OLD PASSENGER WERE RIDING AN ATV ON PRIVATE PROPERTY IN THE COVELO AREA SUNDAY WHEN A CRASH SENT THE 11 YEAR OLD TO THE HOSPITAL.

A WILDLAND FIRE STARTED YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN A CONTROLLED BURN AT A VINEYARD GOT OUT OF CONTROL.

THE FIRE WAS REPORTED JUST BEFORE 11 AM AT RED HILLS VINEYARD ON HIGHWAY 29. THE FIRE ESCAPED THE CONTROLLED AREA AND HEADED UP MT KONOCTI, GETTING INTO A COUNT PARK AND DAMAGING A NEW RESTROOM FACILITY. ACCORDING TO CAL FIRE, THE BLAZE HAD CONSUMED 300 ACRES AS OF LAST NIGHT AND WAS AT 50 PERCENT CONTAINMENT. FULL CONTAINMENT IS EXPECTED SOMETIME TODAY.

A MODERATE SIZED EARTHQUAKE SHOOK THE GEYSERS AND COBB AREA YESTERDAY MORNING.

ACCORDING TO A PRELIMINARY REPORT BY THE US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, THE QUAKE WAS CENTERED TWO MILES EAST OF THE GEYSERS AND 4 MILES SOUTH WEST OF COBB AT A DEPTH OF 2.3 MILES. THE TEMBLOR REGISTERED A 3.0 MAGNITUDE AND NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED.

THE OUTAGE AND SMALL BRUSH FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILED LIGHTING ARRESTOR ON THE POLE ON THE CORNER OF NORTH ORCHARD AND FORD STREET. THE POWER WAS RESTORED IN JUST OVER A HALF HOUR.

DUI SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER WEAVING THROUGH TOWN JH 01/23/13

A UKIAH MAN WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY MORNING AFTER ALLEGEDLY RUNNING STOP SIGNS AND HITTING A POLICE CAR DURING PURSUIT.

POLICE RECEIVED REPORTS OF A VEHICLE WEAVING AND RUNNING STOP SIGNS AT ABOUT 8:15 AM. OFFICERS TRIED TO PULL OVER THE DRIVER, LATER IDENTIFIED AS 58 YEAR OLD JOSE MARGARITO MORA, ON GOBBI STREET AT NORTH STATE. MORA FAILED TO YIELD AND CONTINUED EAST ON GOBBI AND BEGAN SLOWLY TURNING INTO THE TRAILER PARK ON THE EAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY 101. TURNING TOO WIDE, MORA STOPPED AND POLICE EXITED THEIR VEHICLES TO MAKE THE ARREST. HOWEVER, MORA THEN BACKED INTO A PATROL CAR BREAKING A WINDOW BEFORE OFFICERS WERE ABLE TO TAKE HIM INTO CUSTODY. MORA WAS BOOKED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES.
