SONOMA COUNTY SHERIFF SEEKS HELP IN LOCATING MISSING MAN (LAW)

THE SONOMA COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT IS SEEKING ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING A SANTA ROSA MAN WHO DISAPPEARED A WEEK AGO.

44-YEAR-OLD REYNALDO PACHECO LEFT HIS SANTA ROSA HOME ON MARCH 24 HEADED TO NAPA. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO PICK UP HIS CHILD FROM SCHOOL AT 3 PM, HOWEVER, HE CALLED A FRIEND TO PICK UP THE CHILD BECAUSE HE WAS UNABLE TO RETURN ON TIME, AND HE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN OR HEARD FROM SINCE. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE FROM A 7-ELEVEN STORE IN NAPA SHOWS PACHECOS VEHICLE THERE AT ABOUT 2:30, JUST BEFORE HE MADE THE PHONE CALL. AUTHORITIES DO NOT SUSPECT FOUL PLAY, HOWEVER, PACHECOS FAMILY IS EAGER TO LOCATE HIM. PACHECO IS DESCRIBED AS A HISPANIC MAN, ABOUT 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, WEIGHING 145 POUNDS, WITH BLACK HAIR AND BROWN EYES. THE CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATE NUMBER ON HIS 2006 BLACK RANGE ROVER IS 6FHF048. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE WHEREABOUTS OF PACHECO IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE SONOMA COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT AT 565-2650.

CASE DROPPED AGAINST 5TH SUSPECT IN HOME INVASION ROBBERY (LAW)

THE LAKE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE HAS DROPPED THE CHARGES AGAINST ONE OF THE FIVE SUSPECTS IN A JUNE HOME INVASION ROBBERY AND SHOOTING IN CLEARLAKE.

22-YEAR-OLD DEXTER CURRINGTON OF SAN FRANCISCO HAD THE CHARGES DISMISSED ON MARCH 27TH. CURRINGTON AND FOUR OTHERS WERE CHARGED IN A HOME INVASION ROBBERY DURING WHICH JACOB BOGNER WAS SHOT AND PISTOL WHIPPED BEFORE THE SUSPECTS STOLE A FAMILY VEHICLE AND FLED. DURING THE SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION, INFORMATION WAS DEVELOPED BY THE DAS OFFICE THAT DETERMINED THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT PROBABLE CAUSE TO HOLD MR. CURRINGTON FOR THE CRIMES IN QUESTION. AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE IDENTITY OF THE LAST SUSPECT WILL NOW CONTINUE. THE FOUR REMAINING SUSPECTS ARE STILL AWAITING TRIAL.

VEHICLE STOP RESULTS IN ARREST OF FEDERAL FUGITIVE (LAW)

A VEHICLE STOP IN LAKE COUNTY RESULTED IN THE ARREST OF A FEDERAL FUGITIVE AND THE SEIZURE OF METHAMPHETAMINE.

ON MARCH 27TH, A DEPUTY DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 29 NEAR SEIGLER CANYON ROAD PULLED OVER A VEHICLE FOR AN ILLEGAL LANE CHANGE AND A TAIL LIGHT NOT WORKING. THE DRIVER, 43 YEAR OLD WILLIAM ANTHONY BOND OF LOWER LAKE TOLD THE DEPUTY HE DID NOT HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE AND WAS ON FEDERAL PROBATION. A RECORDS CHECK FOUND THAT BOND ACTUALLY HAD A FEDERAL WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST. HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY, AND A SEARCH OF HIS PERSON REVEALED OVER AN OUNCE OF METH. BOND WAS BOOKED INTO LAKE COUNTY JAIL ON MULTIPLE CHARGES.

STATE LOOKS TO SPEED UP APPROVAL FOR WATER STORAGE (GOV/EVR)

IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE WATER CONSERVATION DURING THE STATES ONGOING DROUGHT, THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE AND THE STATE WATER RESOURCES CONTROL BOARD HAVE DECIDED TO SPEED UP THE APPROVAL PROCESS FOR DOMESTIC WATER STORAGE TANKS INSTALLATIONS.

THE TIMES-STANDARD REPORTS, THE DECISION ALTERS ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WATER BOARDS SMALL DOMESTIC USE REGISTRATION PROGRAM, WHICH ALLOWS LANDOWNERS WITH EXISTING WATER RIGHTS TO DIVERT WATER FROM STREAMS AND RIVERS AND STORE IT FOR HOME USE AND FIRE PROTECTION PURPOSES. UNDER THE NEW PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES LAKE, MENDOCINO, SONOMA, AND HUMBOLDT COUNTIES, WATER RIGHTS HOLDERS WOULD NOT DIVERT DURING THE SUMMER, AND INSTEAD DIVERT MORE DURING THE WINTER AND HOLD IT IN THE TANK FOR SUMMER USE.

WILLITS CITY COUNCIL APPROVES BUDGET INCREASE FOR WATER TREATMENT PLANT (GOV) JH 04/01/14

THE WILLITS CITY COUNCIL APPROVED A ONE TIME BUDGET INCREASE TO THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.

THE COUNCIL HAD A DETAILED DISCUSSION LAST WEEK OF THE FINANCIAL IMPACTS TO RATE PAYERS, AND THEN VOTED 4 TO 1 TO APPROVE THE INCLUSION OF ADDITIONAL CHANGE ORDERS TO THE PROJECT THAT WILL HELP INSURE THE TOWN OF WILLITS HAS ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKABLE WATER THIS SUMMER. THE COUNCIL ALSO ADDED AN ACTIVATED CARBON SYSTEM TO THE PROJECT, WHICH WILL BE FUNDED BY A ZERO PERCENT INTEREST LOAN.

WATER SITUATION SEVERE, BUT NO LONGER DIRE (EVR) JH 04/01/14

RECENT RAINS THAT BEGAN LAST WEEK HAVE RAISED THE LEVEL OF LAKE MENDOCINO ENOUGH THAT THE RESERVOIR IS NO LONGER EXPECTED TO BE DRY BY NOVEMBER.

THE DAILY JOURNAL REPORTS, THE RUSSIAN RIVER FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT MANAGER HAS INDICATED THAT THE LAKE WILL STILL BE VERY, VERY LOW IN NOVEMBER, BUT HE DOESNT BELIEVE THAT WE RUN THE RISK OF DE-WATERING ANYMORE. LAKE MENDOCINO IS UP 4,000 ACRE FEET IN RECENT WEEKS, AND CURRENTLY IS HOLDING 42,000 ACRE FEET AND RISING.

MENDO COUNTY SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR VACANT BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS (GOV) JH 04/01/14

THE MENDOCINO COUNTY EXECUTIVE OFFICE IS SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR ANTICIPATED VACANCIES ON A COUPLE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.

THERE IS A TRUSTEE POSITION ON THE HOPLAND CEMETERY DISTRICT AND AN OPENING FOR AN INLAND REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE MENDOCINO COUNTY FISH AND GAME COMMISSION. THE LAST DATE FOR FILING FOR THESE POSITIONS IS TOMORROW, APRIL 2ND, OR UNTIL FILLED IF NO ONE APPLIES PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE. ROAD WORK THIS WEEK (TR) JH 04/01/14

CAL TRANS WILL BE PERFORMING PAVEMENT STUDIES ON HIGHWAY 101 TODAY THAT MAY CAUSE TRAFFIC DELAYS.

THE STUDIES WILL BE PERFORMED FROM THE SOUTH JUNCTION WITH HIGHWAY 20 TO THE FORSYTH CREEK BRIDGE FROM 7 AM TO 3 PM TODAY. TRAFFIC WILL BE RESTRICTED TO ONE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. MOTORISTS MAY EXPERIENCE MINOR TRAFFIC SLOWDOWNS.
