POLICE ARREST TWO IN WILLITS AFTER CHASE (LAW) JB 10/20/14

A POLICE CHASE NEAR WILLITS RESULTS IN THE ARRESTS OF TWO EX-FELONS.

MENDOCINO COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO MULTIPLE CALLS REGARDING BURGLARIES IN THE WILLITS AREA INVOLVING A U-HAUL MOVING TRUCK. WITNESSES STATED SEEING THE TRUCK AT SEVERAL RESIDENCES THAT HAD JUST BEEN BURGLARIZED. A DEPUTY SPOTTED THE TRUCK ON MUIR HILL ROAD BUT THE TRUCK SPED OFF AND A HIGH SPEED PURSUIT ENSUED. THE SUSPECTS FLED ON FOOT AFTER STOPPING THE TRUCK AT THE END OF LOCUST STREET BUT WERE LOCATED BY CHP OFFICERS RESPONDING TO THE SCENE. 43 YEAR OLD JOSHUA HAYES AND 40 YEAR OLD SOLOMON WOODS WERE ARRESTED AND BOOKED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES.

SHERIFF ALLMAN GIVES UPDATES ON HOME INVASIONS (LAW) JB 10/20/14

SHERIFF TOM ALLMAN PROVIDED DETAILED UPDATES ON SEVERAL RECENT HOME INVASION ROBBERIES IN THE AREA.

AT A PRESS CONFERENCE ON FRIDAY, SHERIFF ALLMAN STATED THAT FOUR SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED IN CONNECTION WITH A HOME INVASION THAT TOOK PLACE ON EAST ROAD IN REDWOOD VALLEY. THE SUSPECTS WERE IDENTIFIED AS 19-YEAR-OLD CALVIN BAUSLEY, 18-YEAR-OLD NATHAN ZINGARELLI, 19-YEAR-OLD ANGELO GIOVANNI AND 21 YEAR OLD MARK PAPILLION, ALL OF SANTA ROSA. BAUSLEY AND GIOVANNI HAVE BEEN APPREHENDED AND ARE IN CUSTODY IN THE SONOMA COUNTY JAIL AND FELONY WARRANTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THE OTHER TWO SUSPECTS.

THE SHERIFF ALSO GAVE AN UPDATE ON THE INVASION THAT TOOK PLACE ON REDEMEYER ROAD ON OCTOBER 8. ALL FOUR SUSPECTS ARE FROM THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY AREA AND ONE FILOMINO NUNEZ, WAS A RELATIVE OF THE VICTIM AND KNEW THE LAYOUT OF THE HOME. WHILE NUNEZ STAYED OUT IN THEIR VEHICLE, THE THREE OTHER SUSPECTS ENTERED THE HOME AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED A 37 YEAR OLD FEMALE VICTIM DURING THE ROBBERY. ALL FOUR SUSPECTS WERE APPREHENDED IN SONOMA COUNTY AND ARE BEING CHARGED WITH CRIMES IN BOTH SONOMA AND MENDOCINO COUNTIES WITH THEIR BAILS SET AT $1 MILLION EACH.

GIANTS FAN GIVES BACK HOME RUN BALL (PI) JB 10/20/14

A LIFELONG SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS FAN RETURNED A PIECE OF TEAM HISTORY TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER.

FRANK BURKE WAS THE INCREDIBLY LUCKY FAN THAT CAUGHT THE HOMERUN BALL HIT BY TRAVIS ISHIKAWA TO SEND THE GIANTS TO THE WORLD SERIES. BURKE HAD THE BALL AUTHENTICATED BY A GIANTS OFFICIAL AND THEN WENT DOWN TO THE CLUBHOUSE TO GIVE THE BALL BACK TO ISHIKWAWA, WHO GAVE BURKE A SIGNED BAT IN RETURN. AFTER DOING A MEDIA INTERVIEW THE NEXT MORNING, BURKE RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE GIANTS SAYING THAT HE NOW HAS FOUR TICKETS TO GAME 3 OF THE WORLD SERIES FOR HIS INCREDIBLE GESTURE.

JURY: KELSEYVILLE MAN NOT GUILTY BY INSANITY (LAW) JB 10/20/14

A JURY DETERMINED LAST WEEK THAT A KELSEYVILLE MAN WHO SHOT HIS ESTRANGED WIFES FRIEND AND BEAT HER SEVERELY IN SEPTEMBER 2011 WAS NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY.

THE LAKE COUNTY NEWS REPORTED THAT 42 YEAR OLD ANDREW JAMES SERRANO IS NOW EXPECTED TO SPEND TIME IN A STATE MENTAL HOSPITAL OR OTHER MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY INSTEAD OF DOING PRISON TIME FOR THE ASSAULTS. SERRANO HAD A HISTORY STALKING, HARASSING, AND THREATENING HIS THEN-WIFE, LESA, AS WELL AS SEVERAL OF HER FRIENDS, INCLUDING WILLY TURNER, WHO SERRANO SHOT AT POINT BLANK RANGE ON SEPTEMBER 10,2011. TURNER, WHO SURVIVED THE SHOOTING AND TESTIFIED IN THE TRIAL, CALLED THE VERDICT DISGUSTING AND MORALLY WRONG.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH FAKING HER OWN ASSAULT (LAW) JB 10/20/14

A LAYTONVILLE WOMAN WAS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY INJURING HERSELF IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE HER BOYFRIEND ARRESTED FOR ABUSE.

ACCORDING TO THE MENDOCINO COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE, DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO AT AN ADDRESS ON FOSTER AVENUE IN LAYTONVILLE AND CONTACTED 34 YEAR OLD VANESSA WINTERS. WINTERS, WHO APPEARED VERY INTOXICATED, HAD A SWOLLEN FACE AND DRIED BLOOD AROUND HER LIPS AND NOSE, WHICH SHE SAID WERE CAUSED BY HER BOYFRIEND ASSAULTING HER. FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY THE DEPUTIES FOUND THAT WINTERS HAD POUNDED HER OWN FACE AGAINST A DOOR FRAME AND WALL IN AN ATTEMPT TO FRAME HER BOYFRIEND. WINTERS WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO THE MENDOCINO COUNTY JAIL.

MAN ACCUSED OF USING CAR TO KILL WOMAN (LAW) JB 10/20/14

AN ARIZONA TOURIST HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF USING HIS CAR TO KILL A WOMAN AT A FORT BRAGG MOTEL.

56 YEAR OLD MICHAEL BRADFORD BITNEY WAS ARRESTED BY FORT BRAGG POLICE AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY SLAMMED HIS CAR THROUGH THE WALL OF ROOM 141 AT THE BEACHCOMBER MOTEL AFTER ARGUING WITH A FEMALE COMPANION. THE WOMAN WAS KILLED IN THE INCIDENT AND A CHILD WAS INJURED AND FLOWN TO A BAY AREA HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. BITNEY IS FACING SEVERAL FELONY CHARGES INCLUDING VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER WITH GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND HIT AND RUN. THE NAMES OF THE WOMAN AND CHILD HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED AT THIS TIME.

ROOF WORK SPARKS FIRE IN UKIAH (LAW) JB 10/20/14

WORK ON A ROOF LAST WEEK SPARKED A FIRE IN THE ATTIC OF A UKIAH RESIDENCE.

THE FIRE WAS FIRST REPORTED JUST BEFORE 5 PM LAST THURSDAY AT AN ASSISTED-LIVING RESIDENCE ON OBSERVATORY AVENUE. A ROOFING CREW WAS DOING HOT WORK ON THE ROOF WHEN THE FIRE BROKE OUT IN THE ATTIC OF THE FACILITY. THE CREW ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT OUT THEMSELVES, BUT THEY HAD TO CALL 911 WHEN THEY LOST CONTROL OF THE BLAZE. THE FIRE CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE ATTIC AND ELECTRICAL WIRING OF THE BUILDING. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THE FIRE AS ALL OF THE RESIDENTS HAD EVACUATED THE BUILDING BY THE TIME FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVED.
