CONCLUSIONS ON CAUSE OF 2013 DROUGHT (EVR) JB 10/21/14

CALIFORNIAS NEW WATER YEAR BEGAN ON OCTOBER 1 AND THE ISSUE ON EVERYONES MIND IS WHETHER THIS YEAR WILL BE A REPEAT OF LAST YEAR.

THE WILLITS NEWS REPORTED THAT THE NATIONAL CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER RECENTLY UPDATED ITS THREE MONTH PROBABILITIES FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FROM BELOW AVERAGE RAIN TO AN EVEN CHANCE OF HAVING NORMAL RAIN. CALIFORNIA RAINFALL IN 2013 WAS THE LOWEST IN RECORDED HISTORY. THE MAIN CAUSE WAS THE REMARKABLY PERSISTENT RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE, WHICH DIVERTED STORMS AWAY FROM CALIFORNIA. IT WAS SO LARGE AND SO STRONG, MOST OF THE STORMS WHICH WOULD NORMALLY HAVE HIT CALIFORNIA WERE SHUNTED INTO CANADA.
