AFTER CONSULTING WITH FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS, THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE CONFIRMED THAT THEY WILL PURSUE LIFE SENTENCES WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE FOR THE MEN.

THE LEGISLATION WOULD EXPAND REBATES AND GRANTS FOR WATER CONSERVATION AND EFFICIENCY, SUPPORT LOCAL INVESTMENTS IN WATER RECYCLING AND IMPROVED GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT AND STORAGE AND INVEST IN WATER SAVING TECHNOLOGIES. GARAMENDI STATED HR291 WOULD CREATE MILLIONS OF ACRE FEET OF NEW WATER, ENSURE A RELIABLE WATER SUPPLY AND CREATE GOOD JOBS.

THE WILLITS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IS FACING SOME SERIOUS FINANCIAL CUTS TO ITS BUDGET FOR NEXT YEAR.

ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL SERVICES, THE WILLITS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WOULD NEED TO CUT APPROXIMATELY $200,000 FROM THE 2015/16 BUDGET TO MEET STATE REQUIREMENTS. THE PROJECTED CUTS ARE DEEPER FOR 2016/17, WITH AN ESTIMATED $325,000 CUTS TO MEET THE STATES MINIMUM RESERVE REQUIREMENT, DESIGNATING HOW MUCH FUNDING IS TO BE KEPT IN RESERVES. THE DIRECTOR STATED THAT THESE NUMBERS COULD CHANGE AS UPDATED INFORMATION IS MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT SCHEDULED BUDGET MEETING IN FEBRUARY.
