A man from Clearlake Oaks has major injuries after hitting a guardrail on his motorcycle while possibly driving drunk. Police say Ronald Ferro was hurt last Thursday on Highway 20 east of Highway 53. The CHP reports the man and his bike blocking part of the highway for a time. He had to be flown to a hospital and while there he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. CHP saying alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.

A manager at Hoberg’s Resort has pleaded guilty to knowlingly exposing his employees to asbestos during renovation of the resort. It’s a misdemeanor of the California Labor Code by willfully violating a Cal/OSHA standard. He’s also charged for not getting workers’ compensation insurance but some counts have been dismissed as part of a so-called

“Harvey waiver” meaning the victims could get restitution. A fund has also been set up to treat health problems for any victims.

No more large volume commercial sardine fishing in state and federal waters off California. Effective last Tuesday there’s no sardine fishing off Washington, Oregon and California until July of 2016. The Pacific Fishery Management Council recommended regulations prohibiting the fishing season that would have started July 1st. Fishing for sardines in Calif. Started in the early 1900’s but has been declining since the 1940’s.

The Lake County Board of Supervisors is moving forward with a consulting firm to try to help secure a grant to explore using algae from Clear Lake as a potential resource. The board agreed to waive the selection process and went with Oscar Larson and Associates to help with the Department of Energy Grant Program. A contract was negotiated to look into the lake algae is running about 30-thousand dollars.

3 people have been killed from a family of four traveling on Interstate-505. The family was hit by a wrong way driver, one survived. The CHP reports one of their officers working in the area tried to help stop the accident, but had no luck. It happened Saturday night on a dark stretch of highway 505 north of Hwy. 16 near the Cache Creek Bridge. The wrong-way driver was also killed.

A ballot measure is being drafted to legalize marijuana in California. Labor unions reportedly helping craft the ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana. The United Food and Commercial Workers’ Western States Council is organizing focus groups looking to come up with a ballot measure to get on a 2016 ballot. The labor council represents 160,000 grocery and other workers across the state.

Police in a small village in New Jersey have arrested four teens they say threw eggs at neighbors and yelled obscenities as they drove through a Hasidic Jewish village. The three bous and one girl were held by more than 100 residents who formed a wall around a car until cops arrived. Apparently the kids picked the wrong village as they have active volunteers watching the town. The 4 charged with a misdemeanor of second-degree aggravated harassment. There were no injuries or property damage.

Traffic control’s begun for a new Washington state Chick fil A restaurant. The city of Bellevue has set up traffic control because of snarls in traffic near the fast food joint. This will allow 10 cars into the parking lot at a time. The driveway will be closed it gets too full. The city says it should help ease congestion using the adjusted flagging method.

A man from south Florida is suing a hospital for amputating his leg, then tossing it in the trash with his name tag still on it. John Timiriasieff had to have his leg amputated below the knee in October at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables. He says his family was called by homicide detectives investigating if the man was a victim of foul play after his leg was found at a waste management facility. Florida law calls for limbs to be properly disposed of by incineration.
