The temporary operations for REACH Air Medical Services has moved from the Ukiah airport to the Willits the day the lease was agreed to. REACH renting a home nearby too for crews and its helicopter is parked at the airport. The sublease agreement with Sierra Pacific Aviation for the current locale until the completion of its new home. This all after the group Keep the Code filed a lawsuit against the city of Willits to stop REACH from working out of the Willits Airport. Its about to go to mediation.

A man from Mendocino County found dead in the trunk of a car in Southern California. Police say Jose Flores was found near the city of Santa Clarita inside the trunk of his 2005 blue Honda Accord parked illegally in Canyon Country. A Santa Clarita sheriff’s deputy found the body Sunday. The man from the town of Leggett.

Nearly a million dollars to replace and rehab two bridges in Lake County approved by the board of supes. The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved 507 thousand in expenses to fix the St. Helena Bridge in Middletown and about 377 thousand in improvements to the Cooper Creek Bridge in Upper Lake. The money comes from the Federal Highway Administration, Caltrans and California Toll Credits. 7 firms have bid on the project in various capacities.

Looks like someone’s got a pot farm coming to tribal land near Ukiah. Pictures taken of the farm in Pinoleville show containers that are used to grow marijuana plants. There’s also lots of potting soil, large water storage tanks and solar panels. A greenhouse had been proposed on the reservation but so far none can be seen. There had been a plan for FoxBarry Farms to build a multimillion dollar 10-thousand square foot greenhouse on the property. The Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman questions if the growing operation is legal. He issued a statement saying since there’s conflicting interpretations of state and local marijuana laws/ordinances relating to Tribal lands, there’s no agreement in place for the grow. He says the sheriff’s dept will fairly and equally enforce the law throughout Mendocino County.

A bumper crop of tomatoes in Calif. In Fresno there’s a 2 percent increase from 2014. The stats from the National Agricultural Statistics Service. The service reporting as of last Thursday, there will be 14.3 million tons of processing tomatoes for 2015. If that’s the actual number, it could be a record. The California Tomato Growers Association says there was good planting weather in March and April which were unseasonably warm. Fresno County the top California county in contracted planted acreage. Yolo, Kings, San Joaquin and Merced are the others.

The legislature is working on getting help for people in Napa County a year after last summer’s 6.0-magnitude earthquake. Assemblyman Bill Dodd and Senator Lois Wolk authored the bill to help communities affected by the quake. It passed the Assembly with bipartisan support. Federal and state governments have kicked in some help for local communities, but there’s still about $5 million in losses to local governments. That amount could be covered if Dodd and Wolk’s bill passes. Those affected could also get a tax write-off.

Debris had to be removed from Highway 175 after a big rig overturned. There was only one person aboard the rig when it flipped in Hopland Tuesday morning. Police say the driver fell asleep at the wheel, went off the road into an embankment. The rig had two trailers attached which also overturned and spilled asphalt and 35 to 45 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway and in a ditch.

K-F-C has filed a lawsuit against three Chinese company saying their competition started rumors that KFC chickens have eight legs and six wings. The suit alleges the companies were purposefully misleading customers with pictures and articles online. KFC is asking for nearly a quarter million dollars American from each company and says they have to immediately stop the misinformation campaign.

A robber in Georgia made away with more than money, demanding his victim’s pants. The Macon Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1ER7Tsi ) reports police say a man went into a medical services company and asked to see a doctor. The Sheriff’s office says he was taken to a doc, then pulled a gun demanding the docs briefcase and pants, in which was his wallet, ID and cash. The man got away, no word on what the doc wore home…

The proposed Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument is another step closer after the Lakeport City Council says yes. The city’s mayor says it’ll stimulate local economies and protect natural and recreational resources. The monument sits on land that includes parts of Lake, Napa, Yolo, Solano, Mendocino, Glenn and Colusa counties. The land is also habitat for wildlife. Congressmembers from the North Coast have introduced legislation for the monument asking the president to use the 1906 Antiquities Act to declare the national monument.

Yes from the Upper Lake Union Elementary School District Board to join with the Upper Lake Union High School District. Now the high school district board has to vote on the same then it’s to the Lake County Office of Education then the state. Several parents, board members for the high school and community members were the meeting for the elementary school district last night. If everything goes as planned, the final merger of the two districts would be next year.

The Lieutenant Governor along with some congressmembers and state legislators have visited Garberville to talk pot. Gavin Newsom, Congressman Jared Huffman, and Assemblyman Jim Wood with state officials visiting the town about the future of cannabis in California. Newsom part of the Blue Ribbon Commission (BRC) on Marijuana Policy. The Willits News reports the Lt. Gov. didn’t speak much on policy and says the commission’s nowhere near consensus, saying there are folks vehemently opposed to legalization. It was standing room only at the meeting. The commission will publish a report on their findings in July.
