Police in Lakeport are searching for a man they say was exposing himself at a shopping mall. Police say they got a call yesterday afternoon to the Willow Tree Shopping Center and found a woman there saying she was at Safeway and saw a man in a cream colored Lexus who looked to be following her. She went into the market and when she came out an hour later, the man was parked next to her car and exposed himself. She left and called police, the man has not been found. He’s described as having a dark complexion with short dark hair and balding.

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors is considering license taxes should recreational marijuana be legalized this November. The county counsel will ask the board to consider a resolution for the same ballot for commercial marijuana business license taxes at the board meeting today. If the plan gets a majority vote, then a general tax in unincorporated parts of the county would be imposed on commercial marijuana businesses starting Jan. 1st. County officials say they think that could bring in millions of dollars to fund county services. It would be a 2.5 percent tax rate on gross receipts.

The Department of Public Works in Lakeport warning about road work. Tomorrow morning from 8:30 A.M. to Noon will have traffic control by AT&T because of tree trimming in the area of 963 11th Street. They warn there could be potential ten (10) minute delays.

Business owners, tax and feepayers affected by the Sand Fire in Los Angeles County and the Soberanes Fire in Monterey County can get extensions to file their tax returns. They can also request relief from penalties and/or interest for some taxes and fees, or request replacement copies of records lost or damaged. The Board has a Local Assistance Center August 5th through August 8th in Newhall. Acting Governor Tom Torlakson had issued the emergency proclamation for Los Angeles and Monterey counties last Tuesday, July 26th.

A man from Ukiah’s gone to jail for suspicion of assaulting and trapping his girlfriend. Police say they got a call earlier this week and found a woman who told them she got into an altercation with her boyfriend, Oscar Hernandez next to their parked vehicles and the man grabbed her, covered her mouth and slugged her several times. The woman told deputies she tried running away, but he caught and dragged her back. She says he showed her a gun and threatened to kill her if she cried for help. But she got away and called police. Silva Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, domestic assault, criminal threats and false imprisonment.

A man and a boy say they were held at gunpoint by a man who got into their home. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office says they got a call from the man who says a heavy-set man, wearing a ski mask, camouflage shirt with a semi-automatic handgun and revolver pointed the guns at them and demanded money. The victim says he told the guy he had no money and tried calming the man down. At the same time the boy got away and called 911. The suspect left, but the victim followed, noting where he stopped. Police found Miguel Arreguin of Redwood Valley and arrested him after finding him in possession of items described in the crime. Arreguin was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and first-degree burglary. He was held in jail under $75,000 bail.

Police in Lakeport looking for a man they say was involved in a stabbing at Library Park. Police found Ruben Flores who was believed to have confronted and stabbed a man, plus for stabbing a family member of the victim who tried to help. He missed with a knife, but punched the other victim before running away. He’s still on the run and described as Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. Anyone with info is asked to call Lakeport Police at 707-263-5491, via a private Facebook message @LakeportPolice, or sending an anonymous text to TIP LAKEPORT to 888777.

A man from Lakeport busted last year for a hit and run where two bicyclists were injured, has been sent to prison. David Lent pleaded guilty to felony hit and run resulting in permanent, serious injury and got three years in state prison. He was arrested last Sept. for the crash where Corey Bauman of Lakeport and Nick Thompson of Upper Lake were seriously injured. Police say the men were hit, then Lent took off. The victims are still recovering. Lent’s mom was also charged as an accessory, but never prosecuted. Lent has been in custody since his arrest.

The biggest state employee union in the state’s moving toward a strike. The SEIU Local 1000 has authorized a membership vote during contract negotiations with the Brown administration. It comes after an offer from Brown with a 12 percent salary increase over four years, but means higher payments for retiree health benefits. They’ve been without a contract since July 1st.

A man’s caught climbing a fence outside a jail in Southern California. Deputies say he was at the jail trying to get in, not out. Shane McDonald wasn’t a prisoner but there was a warrant out for his arrest when he tried getting into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino or Sunday. McDonald was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and for the warrant.

A man wanted by police, climbs a tree and hangs on a while. Police say the 30-year-old camped out in the Colorado Springs tree about five hours Sunday night. They say Lane Malouff was wanted on suspicion of assaulting his kids mom and for trying to strangle her. He finally came down from the tree after police used tear gas and sprayed him with water.
