Clear Lake State Park is once again open for day use and boating. The park’s been closed since Clear Lake went over flood stage at the beginning of February. The flooding did a lot of damage that closed park roads, the campgrounds and cabins, the boat launch, and the restrooms. The Park Superintendent tells Lake County News that while the day use is now available from sunrise to sunset, it’s going to be a long time before the campgrounds and cabins are open to the public. It’s taken to long for the water to recede that park staff hasn’t been through the whole park to fully evaluate the erosion and facilities damage. He says the Cole Creek, Upper Bayview and Lower Bayview Campgrounds will probably be closed until June 1. But Kelsey Creek campground, which is still partially underwater, may not be ready until March 2018.

Remains have been found of a woman who went missing from Penngrove two years ago and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating her death as a homicide. A driver stuck on the side of the road after a car crash spotted the body of 63-year-old Annie Bailly over an embankment at Point Reyes National Seashore. Bailly was identified in part through dental records. The Press Democrat reports she’d been reported missing by her husband, Kerry Bailly, in December of 2014. Her car, keys and purse were still at her home. Her cause of death has not been released but a Sheriff’s Office spokesman tells the paper evidence suggests she was murdered. Police at the time said she and her husband were estranged and she wanted a divorce; he said he thought she was suicidal. Detectives searched his home again this week.
