A Fort Bragg man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly trying to run away from a traffic stop. Fort Bragg Police say an officer stopped Ian Freeman on South Franklin Street Sunday night because his tail lights were out. But police say Freeman refused to stop, and led the officer on a slow-speed chase for a couple of blocks before stopping in a parking lot on Cypress Street and then running away. He was caught a few minutes later and after the officer determined he was intoxicated he was arrested on suspicion of DUI, while on probation for a prior DUI conviction, as well as driving on a suspended license and evading.

If you want to be in an HBO movie starring Amy Adams that’s going to be filming in Redwood Valley, there is an open casting call for background extras this Saturday April 8 at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center from 10am to 430pm. They say they’re looking for men and women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities as well as kids over 6. They ask that you bring a current 3×5 picture of yourself, a pen, and a great attitude. It pays $84 bucks a day for an eight-hour day plus overtime if it goes past that. The actual filming is over a ten-day period in May.

Local Real Estate Team the Nicoll Pallini Group is working to raise $20, 000 to support the Mendocino County non-profit Project Sanctuary which works to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault through advocacy, crisis response, community collaboration, education and shelter. In addition to the fundraising goal NPG is also participating in volunteer and awareness activities for Project Sanctuary. This month their office at 101 North State Street in Ukiah is a drop-off location for donations of new or used children’s books, which will be given to families with children living in emergency and transitional housing. Project Sanctuary volunteers also use the books for reading groups at the shelter. The office is open M-F from 8am to 5pm.
