A small plane has crashed into Lake Berryessa. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed when the plane hit the water at Little Portuguese Cove around 930am this morning. Deputies, firefighters and paramedics had to use boats to get to the wreckage and the recovery is continued into the afternoon. There is no word yet on the cause of the crash or the names of the pilot and passenger but the plane is reported to be a single-engine Icon A5. An FAA spokesman confirms they and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating.

The California Conservation Corps Ukiah Center is holding an Open House next week. The Conservation Corps is a state agency offering young men and women a paid opportunity to improve California’s natural resources/ The CCC responds to emergencies such as fires, floods, and agricultural disasters and the Ukiah Center takes an active role in local natural resource work with projects including landscaping at the Grace Hudson Museum; fish habitat improvement on the Noyo River, Little River and Navarro River; and brush clearance for Caltrans. Local Crews also fight fires and floods including the major Lake County fires of 2015 and this year’s storm damage at Clear Lake State Park.
