Governor Jerry Brown announcing a partnership with two other Democratic governors saying they won’t back away from the Paris Accord to reduce greenhouse gas emissions despite the President announcing today that the U.S. is withdrawing from the pact. Brown, Jay Inslee of Washington and Andrew Cuomo of New York have formed the U.S. Climate Alliance, vowing to stick by the commitment to reduce U.S. emissions by 26 to 28 percent from their 2005 levels by the year 2025. The three states represent over one-fifth of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product.

The Lakeport Sprint Boat Grand Prix has announced the final list of classes competing this weekend on Clearlake. The Southern California Speedboat Club says classes include: K Class, Unblown Flat Bottom, GPS – 100, Sportsmen Extreme, Formula Light Tunnel Boats and VINTAGE Race boats. Organizers say with downtown parking expected to fill up fast, overflow parking is being offered at the Lake County Fairgrounds with a Strohmeier Auto Center Shuttle taking folks to the race gates and back to their cars at the end of the day. Event Chairman Jack Long says while it’s been a big undertaking he’s confident when people see the sheer power and speed of the boats, they will be hooked on the sport.

The Mendocino County Library says the Coast Community Branch Library in Point Arena will be closed until further notice while work continues on an earthquake retrofit. They apologize for the inconvenience and say they will let us know as soon as possible when they expect to get it back open.

A couple of local dogs could soon be HBO-famous. When the location manager for the series “‘Sharp Objects’’, which recently filmed at a ranch in Redwood Valley, met the ranch manager Lorenzo Ayala’s two dogs, he fell in love with their good behavior and found acting parts for them. Ayala tells the Ukiah Daily Journal his German shepherd Chucky and shepherd-red-nosed-pitbull mix Chapo are well-trained because they spend so much time with him they know all the rules of working on the ranch as well as riding in his truck. The location manager said it was the way they stood in Ayala’s truck that got them the parts as the dogs owned by the local sheriff on the TV Show.
