A Mendocino County court has ordered the Irish Beach Water District to pay more than $2 million to Irish Beach homeowners. The District must pay William and Tona Moores upwards of $1.5 million and issue refunds to them and all the other subdivision water customers totaling over $900,000. The Irish Beach Water District provides water to properties within the Irish Beach subdivision near Manchester along the Mendocino County coast. The Moores filed the lawsuit after the District drilled a water well on their property without their permission and then used the water throughout the subdivision. In addition the judge ruled the District improperly used assessment funds, wrongfully continued collecting money to build an abandoned water project and collected assessments beyond the limits approved by voters.

A Yolo County man has been killed in a car accident on Hwy 20 in Clearlake Oaks. The CHP says around 12pm Noon Thursday the man’s pickup truck crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and hit a motorcyclist from Clearlake Oaks. The biker was thrown off; he had to be flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with what officials say are major injuries. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is still looking into what happened but says so far it does not looks like drugs or alcohol were involved.

Ukiah Police say no one was hurt after a resident tackled a guy who broke into his home late Monday night. Officers arrived to find the victim holding the suspect Erick O’Donnell down on the floor. The resident says he was asleep in his bedroom when he woke to what he thought was his dog barking and found O’Donnell inside his room. He says he yelled at O’Donnell to get out but O’Donnell came toward him so he wrestled him to the floor. The resident’s girlfriend woke up, saw what was happening and called police. O’Donnell was taken to a hospital to get checked out and then tried to het away from the officers who has to force him to the ground. O’Donnell was arrested for unlawful entry into a residence, prowling and resisting arrest.
