A Willits man camping illegally on someone’s property has been arrested for Felony Child Neglect after tying his 2-year-son tied to a tree. Last Thursday deputies looked into an ongoing complaint of transients camping on some property along Highway 20. The owner had called several times before and the Sheriff’s Office says Jeffery Wilson was warned twice before to leave. But then deputies saw Wilson’s son tied by his wrist to a tree branch, wearing only a diaper and with weapons and other dangerous items within the boy’s reach. Wilson arrested for Child Neglect as well as possession of a controlled substance. Deputies requested that boy go to Child Protective Services. Animal Control also took several animals from the encampment.
