A new trial date has been set to hear the lawsuit filed by the Ukiah Valley Sanitation District against the City of Ukiah over money the district claims the city owes it. The city attorney told the city council Wednesday both parties agreed to push the trial from June 22 to July 20. But the city manager said while both sides are continuing to prepare for the trial, they are also continuing mediation, with one session held last Monday with two members each from the Sanitation District board of directors and city council and another session scheduled for this Monday, February 12th, with the full board and council.

The Lakeport City Council has heard some suggestions about upgrades to City Hall. At their meeting this week the community development director asked the council for direction on a proposal to remodel a portion of City Hall in order to make it more customer friendly. Lake County News reports $70,000 has been set aside for the project. Proposed changes mentioned included moving the Community Development Department public window from its current location to the main lobby by the Finance/Utility customer service window, providing public counter space large enough for people to look at building plans; creating a public window compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and making it easier to serve more than one person at a time. Other suggestions included upgrading the City Hall security system and making improvements in energy efficiency.
