Nearly a dozen searchers from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue are out searching once again for the missing Hart children. As we’ve been reporting a family of 8 from Washington state went over a cliff a couple weeks ago by Westport. The story’s gained national attention as one of the 6 a
dopted children had been in a viral photo from a Black Lives Matter rally in Portland a few years ago. The family was visiting the area, then the Mendocino County Sheriff reported it looked like the family maybe have been intentionally driven off the cliff by one of the two mom’s, Jennifer Hart. The mothers and three of their children were found dead at the crash scene. Now reports of a body of an African American female. The sheriff’s office was out this morning again looking for signs of the other children. The CHP was also sending a helicopter to help with the search. The low tide apparently the best time for a search. The Sheriff is posting daily updates on their Facebook page too.

A man from Lakeport’s been killed in a motorcycle crash. The CHP says the 50‑year‑old man crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed head on with a pickup truck Sunday night. It happened near the intersection of Highways 175 and 29. Officers say the man got distracted and he drifted into the path of a 2007 Dodge driven by Tyler Knudsen of Middletown who had a passenger with him. The two were not injured. The Press Democrat reports good Samaritans tried to help the motorcycle rider, performing CPR on him, but he died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

A lockdown at Lakeport Unified School District schools is over and police say it was a hoax. Apparently an email came from an unknown person saying they had three bombs and a .22 caliber handgun and were headed to a school to shoot and kill people. The threat apparently to many schools in the state and across the country. A temporary lockdown only lasted less than 90 minutes. The email also said if police were spotted at the school the bombs would explode. The district called the Lakeport Police Department who responded along with other local law enforcement to secure the school. The school district posted about the incident on their Facebook page, saying there were no reports of anyone being threatened and the situation was being closely monitored. Law enforcement did a sweep the
n cleared the campus. It was then found many schools had similar threats and it was all a hoax.
