There may soon be fire watch cameras popping up in Sonoma County. The Board of Supervisors are thinking about installing the cameras to find wildfires early and quickly send resources. There are fire watch cameras on top of Bald Mountain which saw the County Fire. which has burned more than 90,000 acres. One idea is to put cameras around Santa Rosa. They could be hoisted up on top of existing towers with the first ones to go up by Lake Sonoma since there are more than 600,000 people in the North Bay who get their drinking water from it. The cost is pegged at about $475,000. County supervisors will take up the matter again next month.
