A permit is being considered for a new car repair shop on Talmage Road by Ukiah’s Zoning Administrator. A permit’s been applied for by All In One Auto Repair and Towing on Talmage Road where the business is looking to store impounded vehicles. The hearing tomorrow for a Minor Use Permit and Site Development Permit. There’s one vacant parcel of land and a second parcel has a home, carport, garage and shed where a member of the trucking industry lives. The business owner owns the two parcels that have been used for storage. Now he wants to use the vacant land for a storage facility, not for auto repair, dismantling or salvaging.

Two people found dead in a car that had reportedly crashed into a tree. The CHP reports finding a mini-cooper off Old Stage Road in Gualala Monday morning. The CHP reports the crash happened Saturday, but they don’t know why the vehicle went off the road. They do say though, that they do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors and say both of the deceased were wearing seatbelts. The driver has been identified as 52 year old Diane Maxwell and her passenger, as 50 year old Alan Ricoli, both from Gualala.

The latest Mendocino County Library Annual Report has been approved by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. The Daily Journal reports the library made some improvements over the last year after Measure A passed back in 2011. That was a sales tax for the Library that goes for 16 years. The Library receives about $2,000,000 a year, with half going to the budget. The changes include longer hours, more full time staffers, added programs and new stops for the Bookmobile. More money has also come in from Friends of the Library, a group that also volunteers and helps with planning and projects.

A man has been arrested by Willits police after an officer on routine patrol saw a man standing at the end of a driveway run when he saw the officer. It happened Monday, the suspect caught later, after being seen in different clothing. He also told police his name was Erik Estrada, a famous TV actor from the 70’s and 80’s. Cops also found clothing he had been wearing in a trash can. In the pants police found his ID card, identifying him as Michael Estrada, who’s on formal probation and has a warrant for his arrest out of Sacramento County. He’s booked for the warrant and several other charges.

The Lakeport City Council has given the greenlight to hire a contractor to build the new seawall at Library Park. The seawall destroyed in a major flood in February 2017, and has been blocked off ever since. After more flooding earlier this year, there was more underground damage. During a special meeting last night of the council, a construction company was approved for the work. There were local, state and federal emergency declarations after the 2017 storms. After the city pursued help for the last three years, the city has received a thumbs up from FEMA to build the new seawall.

Three candidates are up for a seat on the Clearlake Planning Commission. The City Council will choose a member at their meeting, but first they’ll have a closed session to discuss a lawsuit with Pacific Gas and Electric and two possible lawsuits. The Planning Commission seat open after Nathalie Antus resigned last month. Applications had been accepted until last week. The three being considered are Fawn Williams, Erin McCarrick and David Goolsbee. The council will interview the trio and appoint someone for the seat for the term which ends in March 2023.

A man from Kelseyville has been hurt in a crash, police say he rode into the path of a car because he was on drugs. He was arrested after the crash on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. Kevin Richardson was injured Monday afternoon in the crash at Highway 29 and Live Oak Drive in Kelseyville. The CHP says he was riding his bike when Richard Jensen was driving his Dodge Ram truck. They say Richardson crossed in front of the path of Jensen, who had a green light. He could not avoid hitting the bike rider. He was also not wearing any safety equipment, and had moderate injuries. The driver was not injured.

Updates coming for those who attend this week’s Middletown Area Town Hall. They’ll also nominate folks for 2 seats on the governing board. Meetings are open to community members on items that are not noted on the agenda. The meeting tomorrow will also have updates on Caltrans’ Highway 175 shoulder widening project, the Hardester’s Market and homeless people in the community park. A man killed in a car crash in Kelseyville has been identified. 78 year old John Charles Gilliam died in Saturday’s crash. The man in his 1998 Toyota Tacoma, turning into the path of a car driven by April Flores of Lakeport. Gilliam’s pickup spun off the road and rolled. The CHP says he also was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP also says they do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the wreck.

PG&E sweetening the deal for wildfire victims, bolstering it’s fund to $13.5 billion. The company filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy at the beginning of the year after coming to terms with owing billions in claims filed after the 2017 firestorm in Northern Calif. and the Camp Fire last year. The offer, part of its restructuring plan, had the company’s shares surging by about 19%.  The offer will reportedly match what a group of creditors had agreed to pay victims in a different reorganization plan. PG&E’s been working on the deal to end its bankruptcy, the largest by a utility company in US history, by next summer.  The Gov. threatened the utility company with a takeover if the bankruptcy deal didn’t wrap up by next June.
