THE TRAILER WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.

· THE LAKE PILLSBURY AREA WAS SHAKEN BY A 3.6 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

THE QUAKE OCCURRED AT 4:49 AM AND WAS CENTERED 25 MILES EAST NORTH EAST OF UKIAH, AND 25 MILES NORTH-NORTH WEST OF CLEARLAKE. THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF DAMAGE OR INJURIES.

ANTIFREEZE KILLER DIES IN PRISON JKB 8/31/10

· 41 YEAR OLD JULIA LYNN WOMACK TURNER, WHO WAS CONVICTED OF MURDER BY ANTIFREEZE POISONING IN 2007, WAS FOUND DEAD IN HER PRISON CELL AT THE METRO STATE PRISON FOR WOMEN IN ATLANTA MONDAY MORNING.

THE CAUSE OF DEATH IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. TURNER WAS FOUND GUILTY OF THE MURDER OF HER HUSBAND, POLICE OFFICER GLENN TURNER IN 1995, AND THE DEATH OF HER BOYFRIEND, FIREFIGHTER RANDY THOMPSON IN 2001. BOTH MEN WERE POISONED WITH ANTIFREEZE. TURNER WAS CONVICTED IN 2004 FOR THE MURDER OF TURNER, AND IN 2007 FOR THE MURDER OF THOMPSON. TURNER WAS SERVING A LIFE SENTENCE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE.

  • A HOPLAND MAN WAS CONVICTED OF 2ND DEGREE MURDER ON FRIDAY IN THE STABBING DEATH OF ANOTHER MAN AT A PARTY IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008.

38 YEAR OLD TIMOTHY ELLIOTT AND 27 YEAR OLD SAMUEL BILLY WERE AT THE SAME PARTY ON SHANEL ROAD IN HOPLAND WHEN THE TWO GOT INTO A FIGHT JUST BEFORE 4 AM. ELLIOTT STABBED BILLY IN THE ABDOMEN WITH A KNIFE DURING THE ALTERCATION AND HE DIED AFTER BEING FLOWN TO SANTA ROSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. IT WAS THE 2ND FIGHT ELLIOTT HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN THAT NIGHT. HE NOW FACES A SENTENCE OF 16 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON. ELLIOT IS SCHEDULED TO BE SENTENCED OCTOBER 8TH.

FATAL POT GARDEN SHOOTING DETAILS RELEASED JKB 8/30/10

  • HUMBOLDT COUNTY AUTHORITIES SAY A UKIAH MAN WAS ON THE HUNT FOR TWO MEN WHO ESCAPED THE SCENE OF A FATAL SHOOTING IN A MARIJUANA GARDEN OUTSIDE KNEELAND AFTER KILLING A THIRD MAN LAST WEDNESDAY.

INVESTIGATORS SAY THE TWO MEN, WHO HAD BEEN HIRED BY 28 YEAR OLD MYKAL XYLON ALONG WITH THE THIRD MAN TO TEND THE GARDEN, HID IN FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT AFTER THE SHOOTING OCCURRED IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF AUGUST 25TH. ONE MAN WHO SUFFERED AT LEAST ONE GUNSHOT WOUND MADE HIS WAY SEVERAL MILES TO A CALFIRE HELICOPTER BASE TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. THE OTHER MAN ESCAPED UNHARMED. THE DEAD MAN WAS IDENTIFIED AS 40 YEAR OLD MARIO ROBERTO JUAREZ MADRID OF SANTA ROSA GUATEMALA. WILDE WAS ARRESTED DURING A TRAFFIC STOP LATE THURSDAY MORNING AND CHARGED WITH MURDER. AUTHORITIES LOCATED 1554 MARIJUANA PLANTS FROM THE GARDEN WHERE THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE. INVESTIGATORS SAY THEY HAVE A GOOD IDEA WHAT LED TO THE SHOOTING, BUT HAVE NOT RELEASED THAT INFORMATION.

  • THE MENDOCINO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE HAS DROPPED ALL CHARGES AGAINST ONE OF THE DEFENDANTS IN AN EMBEZZLEMENT CASE INVOLVING THE SHO-KA-WAH CASINO IN HOPLAND, AND WILL NOT PURSUE FORGERY CHARGES AGAINST 6 OTHER DEFENDANTS DESPITE EVIDENCE OF FORGERY.

CHARGES WERE DROPPED AGAINST 77 YEAR OLD GLORIA NELSON OF NICE ON FRIDAY WHEN HANDWRITING ON A TICKET THAT NELSON WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE SIGNED FOR A $1000 JACKPOT DIDNT MATCH HER HANDWRITING. ACCORDING TO HER ATTORNEY KEITH FAULDER, NELSON HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCAM UNTIL SHE WAS CHARGED. FORGERY CHARGES WILL NOT BE PURSUED AGAINST THE OTHER DEFENDANTS BECAUSE OF LACK OF EVIDENCE, BUT GRAND THEFT CHARGES REMAIN. 42 YEAR OLD JOAN PICKRON OF UKIAH ALSO REMAINS CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLEMENT FOR ALLEGEDLY USING A HUB MACHINE TO CREATE FALSE SLOT MACHINE PAYOUTS THAT WERE THEN ALLEGEDLY CASHED BY ACCOMPLICES.

FATAL ACCIDENT J KB 8/30/10

  • LAKE COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE CHARRED REMAINS OF A DRIVER WHO WAS KILLED AFTER THEIR CAR BURST INTO FLAMES DURING A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 29 NEAR KELSEYVILLE LATE SATURDAY NIGHT.

THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE VICTIM WHO REPORTED THE CRIME HIKED MORE THAN 2 MILES WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO HIS FACE AND BACK BEFORE REACHING THE FIRE STATION. MAN STABS SELF AT MENTAL HEALTH JKB 8/27/10

  • AUTHORITIES ARE INVESTIGATING THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING A MAN WHO APPARENTLY STABBED HIMSELF IN FRONT OF THE MENDOCINO COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT ON BUSH STREET JUST AFTER 10 AM YESTERDAY MORNING.

23 YEAR OLD IVAN VARGAS WAS ARMED WITH A LOADED GUN WHEN HE MADE THE THREATS DURING A DOMESTIC DISPUTE AT AROUND 11:30 PM. THE VICTIM FLED FROM THE HOME, AND BELIEVING VARGAS WAS STILL THERE WITH CHILDREN IN THE HOUSE, CALLED POLICE. A SWAT TEAM RESPONDED ONLY TO FIND THAT VARGAS HAD FLED. 6 CHILDREN IN THE HOME WERE NOT HARMED. VARGAS IS DESCRIBED AS A HISPANIC MALE ADULT, 5 FEET 5 INCHES TALL WEIGHING 220 POUNDS WITH BLACK HAIR AND BROWN EYES. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON HIS WHEREABOUTS IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE CLEARLAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

NAPA MARIJUANA SHOOTING DEATH JUSTIFIED JKB 8/27/10

A TOTAL OF A 2,406 PLANTS WERE ERADICATED FROM THE GARDENS AFTER THE FIREFIGHTS. SEVERAL OTHER FIREARMS WERE ALSO CONFISCATED. THE 13 YEAR OLD WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO JUVENILE HALL FOR ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON.

MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATS OF FOOD TAMPERING JKB 8/20/10

  • A LUCERNE MAN WAS ARRESTED AFTER CLAIMING HE INTENTIONALLY CONTAMINATED PRODUCE WITH FECAL MATTER AT THE LAKE PORT SAFEWAY ON WEDNESDAY.

WHILE THERE HE TOLD HOSPITAL STAFF THAT AMONG OTHER IRRATIONAL THOUGHTS HE WAS HAVING, HE WAS CONSIDERING GOING TO THE LAKEPORT SAFEWAY WITH FECES ON HIS HANDS TO CONTAMINATE PRODUCE THERE. HE WAS LATER RELEASED. DEPUTIES CONTACTED MANAGEMENT AT SAFEWAY WITH GORDONS STATMENTS, AND THEY SHUT DOWN THE PRODUCE DEPARTMENT FOR SANITATION MEASURES AS A PRECAUTION. GORDON WAS ARRESTED FOR MAKING MALICIOUS STATEMENTS AND FOR POSSESSION OF A NON-PRESCRIBED CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. HE WAS BOOKED INTO THE LAKE COUNTY JAIL WITH BAIL SET AT $10,000.

COLETON MUMMERT AND COLTON HONNOLD, BOTH AGED 20, WERE ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING AN INHALANT INTOXICANT, RESISTING ARREST AND BEING MINORS IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL.
